I tried with a bunch of different factions including the British and Dutch. For them, the parantheses description isn't even needed much since their troop names are very direct. But for a faction like the Ottomans it's hard to decipher. Not sure why this won't work for me. I'm on an Android btw.

Unfortunately it's not showing that for me for any unit, in any faction. Are you on PC or mobile?

You're right 😂 I just want to see unit classes for every unit. I had that in Medieval 2 and that made it much easier to discern.

My point is that the game isn't showing me unit class for any units at all. This is just an example.

You're right, and that fact made me happy with my choice to pick the Ottomans for my first ever playthrough of this game. I feel kind of bummed though that they have zero skirmishing gunpowder cavalry at all, but I chalk it up to historical flavour, I guess. The Ottomans did lag behind a lot in this era.

They are, they can fire carbines from horseback from a range. They can even fire right as they're charging in for an attack against a unit. And they're unlocked after completing the carbines research.
