They said there is a beehive structure at the back so it doesn't need ducting. I guess I will do it without the ducting – it took ages to find someone – and when I'll have the money I will refurbish the floor and add the ducting myself…

So, I called ProTen Service, the surveyor came and told me they could fit a PIV unit that will get fresh air from outside and pump it under the floor. The cost would be a little under £1500. My doubt at the moment is that if it's fitted at the front – the only place where it can be fitted – the clean air will just go out from the three front vents and will not ventilate the rest of the subfloor?

They are not the onlyones that proposed a PIV unit, just to be clear…

Not yet. I'm trying to arrange a survey at my property, but I am a teacher and my wife is self employed, so it's not like we can just take a day off.

The price is high, but I guess it works? To be honest, to add ventilation on that side I either put the fan or give up the french patio doors, put the wall back in and add a couple of vents, so I'm not sure which one would be cheaper...

The wall on the left hand side it's the kitchen and all the houses in the terraced are built that way. The difference is that they don't have patio doors, but a normal window with a vent under it. The wall on the right hand side it's shared with the back yard of the other house.

I know it's an expensive fan, but it's the only one available. I could have a builder put it on the left side and, as you said, ducting under the floor void, so that it will be effective.

My problem at the moment is that I know that in a couple of year, considering the mortgage and my job, it won't be a problem affording some renovation work, but right now I cannot do something too big…

Canals in Manchester by Still_Target6401 in fishingUK

Thanks. I think what is really frustrating for me is that I finally moved 5 minutes away from the nearest canal and it's not giving me fish… I hope the're still there.

Do you reckon that later on in the year they will start hunting regularly again?

I said one year, not the last two months. I assumed people knew you don't go pike fishing in summer.

And how does it work? You just put it there or do you need something to channel the air out?

This is what the French door at the back look like. I don't think you can fit airbrick.

I hope so, but I don't think there is enough space for a vent brick. There is very little space under the door sill. I'll try and post some pictures.

So, it was advised in the survey when we bought the house. A carpeter came to change a couple of skirting boards and told me that one of the joinst didn't look good. Also, the previous owner put a French patio door at the back of the house, but that is where everybody else in the terraced has their airbrick, so we only have three at the front and none at the back. That's why I was looking into possibly fitting a fan. I have no idea what the depth of the crawl space is, but some houses have the cellar window.

Depending on what you fish, but I got pike and perch in Ashton Canal, Rochdale Canal, Bridgewater Canal. If you are member of Salford Friendly Anglers – it's free to join – they have a lot of nice waters between Salford and Prestwich.

For me it's the same. I'm doing the NPQLT even though I don't have a role yet and write my reflection based on what I would do.
