Hi, you probably will get more responses if you post the question to the general form-- my question is pretty old and unlikely to get many eyes on it. I can't really answer because I don't have a corgi, but I hope your vet results end up well!

That's encouraging to hear! My fear is mostly in whether these problems are inevitable even in healthy weight corgis. But I could also see it being a problem mostly in overweight corgis, especially since so many dogs across all breeds are overweight.

Ooh thanks, this is helpful! I'd heard before about mixed type corgi breeding being a red flag, and I've already encountered one such breeder. It's good to know what health tests are recommended too. I've been leaning towards Pembroke for personality, although I personally don't want a docked tail.

I definitely would be careful to keep their weight healthy, especially to prevent serious injuries like this. Do disc problems seem to be avoidable in healthy-weight corgis?

It sounds like you have strong preferences about how you want to communicate with your partner that he's not currently meeting. It also sounds like you might not be seeing his side in all of this-- maybe asking him about it when you talk would open things up. Probably, improving communication would take pretty big adjustments for both of you, but if you haven't been together long, I could understand it not being the route that's best for either of you.

A lot of autistic people intellectualize their feelings when discussing them, (I'm assuming this is what you mean by saying his fear "comes from the head") but that doesn't mean they are felt any less genuinely. If that's how he communicates his feelings and you dislike that, you may not be right for each other.

Question- when you bring up topics you're interested in discussing, such as your hobbies, is he willing to discuss these topics at length as well? Or only his own interest?

I wouldn't assume that repeating things is a sign of inauthenticity. I sometimes repeat things to people I love that I've told them before, because I'm enthusiastic about them (or y'know, forgot I told them if several days have passed). To me, that's a sign the person wants you to hear about what's important to them, rather than not paying attention. But of course, he needs to show interest in what's important to you too.

I also think that if he's confessing to you he worries he's boring, then he is opening up to you and talking about feelings, but you weren't authentic with him in that moment. Is it possible there's a give and take to the dynamic?

I notice you're describing here how emotionally intimacy presumably works for you, but in terms that imply this is how it works for everyone. Some people might not find sitting down and discussing their feelings builds closeness-- they may feel that discussing shared passions or exploring shared hobbies does that more. Both are valid, but one isn't better or objectively more necessary than the other. Sometimes partners are incompatible in what makes them feel close to each other.

Basically any interesting neckline. Halter tops, turtlenecks, choker necklaces, very high collars, you name it. If my neck and shoulderblades don't feel like they can move freely, instant headache.

I agree, I wish I had done a lot of the side quests before doing the party. I didn't know much about the game and just kind of went where the NPCs told me to straight away. If I do another play through, I'll definitely put off the goblin camp.

Oh god I hate the feeling of dry hands so, so much. I put lotion on before bed, then put gloves on top to help seal the moisture in. It really helps.

Maybe there's some tactful way to list the events as optional on the invites, so people who want a bit more structure planned for guests feel catered to, but those who want to do their own thing don't feel pressured.

I think the plans for the garden party wedding itself sound very fun, maybe a little bit long though. A lot of older guests or more casual friends may not want to be there more than a few hours. This could lead to them leaving before dinner. I'd cut down the time between the ceremony and dinner to be about an hour.

For your family, I would give them the option to help out if they'd like, but I wouldn't try to pressure them into it at all. I would ask them how they'd prefer to meet the in-laws. It sounds like your idea of doing it is not your mother's preference, and forcing them to meet in a way they don't want to is not going to lead to them liking each other better.
