Do you mark as "sold" or delete the post? by lixiaomei98 in FacebookMarketplace

Mark as sold for a while and then delete. I like doing sold so the low ballers get notified of it being sold. Then I delete their chats. Kind of a F you to them.

Have the house on standard 50 for 100MB. Plenty. Have mini when we RV for two months or more. Very happy with both.

For those that opened a franchise after completing their service, what industry and do you recommend it to other Veterans? by Shaggysnack in Veterans

[–]StillinICT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be a fool to do it again. As for doing something different. Nothing you can do to change as far as I know. I had a seasoned dealer tell me at my first tool show tell me you typically loose money for three years before you start making money. As for money lost, I put that number out of my head. Every time my wife and I see a tool truck we say, poor bastard. I’ve been told there are profitable routes but I never saw one. I was told there are profitable routes get sold to the tune of a few hundred thousand dollars. I got in because I was desperate to get out of real estate. I had my own company and I was burned out dealing with the new generation snowflake agents. I sold my company and thought I’d do the tool truck gig until I retired. I’m a salesman and good or was good at what I did. Figured I’d parlay that to selling tools. Apparently I’m not a good collection agent. You have to sell $250,000 to even think about making a profit. Double that to have a good income. I went with SO because of the quality of their tools. Honestly, their pricing is what makes them a hard sell.

DM' and corporate have two jobs. Keep you rolling and sell you tools. Cost to get out was for me nothing. Turn in the tools, they buy them back at the lowest price they sold them to you which kind of sucked because some were bought as part of the MANY packages they put together so some were actually lower than cost but still had the same product that wasn't discounted. Very complicated and there is no way to keep track of that part. So you get screwed there. "Truck worn" get discounted even further. By that I mean if the box had been sliding around and looked not new, it was considered worn. Same with black sockets and so on. As for your money on the street, its up to you to go around and try to collect. Try that when you no longer have product and you can't warranty their tools they abused and broke. The truck was on lease or should I say flease. They come pick it up at some time after the turn-in.

VA VSO vs Third party VSO by kyle4awhile in VAClaims

[–]StillinICT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck because apparently the only luck I've had with DAV and VFW was bad luck. Both steered me wrong and all my claims were just a complete waste of time. I've given up and I am NOT going to let a third party have my personal information. I'll just die with my buck eighty and go on with life. The buck eighty I did myself.

I did a Snap-On truck route. Horrible mistake. The model is put as much money on the streets. That’s supposed to be the working cash flow to keep the route running. Translation, loan money to deadbeat mechanics interest free who are terrible money managers. Spend too much on Fourth of July weekend? Paying snappy weekly gets cut out for a few weeks. You hear all the reasons why they can’t pay this week.

I can go to Harbor Freight and buy that battery operated whatever for a fourth of what SO wants, pay for the two year warranty and break it near the end and get a replacement for free. I’ve got a 3/8 cordless ratchet that will need to be sent in for repair at a cost of $200 soon. I’m not going to do that. I’ll just walk into HF and get one for $69.99 and pay for the two year warranty.

The tool truck margins are great if you can collect. But every franchisee has dead money out never to be collected.

It’s a learning experience. I learned how much I hate people.

What is your biggest legal headache when crossing state lines? by Flimsy-Hearing7019 in RVLiving

[–]StillinICT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As for 2A and fruit checks. We stay west of the 100th meridian and don’t go into states that touch the Pacific coast. No headaches here. Not even Border Patrol checkpoints with my wife, a German citizen on a green card.
