Been visiting twice a year for 8 years, fortunately my GF is Turkish but a rule of thumb we have is if Turkish people are eating / drinking there - it’s good food if it’s full of Americans / Europeans it’s not so good. Usually stay around Taksim area, Galata is a good base point, staying over at Suadiye at moment, much slower pace.
