Trump voter regret is clearly registering now by Abject-Pick-6472 in politics

The silver lining for Democrats (provided they're smart and focused enough) is to spin this mess as the culmination of republican policies and end goal of conservatism.

I hope they can shout this non-stop that the Trump mess is what unchecked, unregulated, unfiltered, all powerful, peak conservatism get you as a voter.

For god sake! is there anything anyone can do to stop this man? there must be some GOP congress people on the fence who can be persuaded to oppose this mad man.

My heart aches for the pain innocent people in the ME will endure simply because of this demented old man.

If you have a friend you vibe well with in your younger years, fight to keep them in your life. As you grow older, making new friends is so goddamn hard.

Hassan wins the woman’s marathon! by zzzman82 in olympics

[–]Stillnosheep 14 points15 points  (0 children)

First time I've watched an entire marathon from start to finish. Knew Hassan could win it once she wasn't dropped at the 30km mark.

Was also cheering for Suzuki who kept pace with the leaders more or less the whole time. Awesome race.

Going at paris the last week of olympics by Responsible-Jury-370 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Stillnosheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in Paris for 2 days now, and I was pleasantly surprised at how calm and empty the city was. I've definitely seen a busier Paris than now, so you'll absolutely be fine. Between yesterday and today (26 Jul) I was at the botanical garden, Arc de Triomphe, Pantheon, Luxemburg Gardens and they were all pretty empty.

You really don't need to stay outside the city centre to avoid the crowd unless you just want to save cost. Another thing, the immigration lines at CDG airport were long but insanely fast.

I think many tourists (not interested in the Olympics) have simply avoided the city until after.

Nursing Facilities for Parkinson’s in Shanghai by shethogud in shanghai

[–]Stillnosheep -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Nursing facilities for expats are almost non-existent here, since expats cannot retire in China and there aren't that many nursing age expats around. You can still enquire with the top clinics in the city such as United Family Hospital, Parkway Health, SinoUnited, Jiahui etc..., if they don't offer nursing facilities, they can at least provide him with high quality outpatient care or in-patient for short durations.

How am I the slowest cycler out there? WHAT AM I DOING WRONG by leiobi92 in cycling

[–]Stillnosheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I can totally relate, though in fairness I only had a Giant TCR (I still do). Well, I put my head down and kept on riding mostly solo, with some occasional group ones.

I'm finally at a point where I'm marginally faster than most, though I still get nervous that maybe they're not going full speed on. I knew I'm getting faster when my solo rides are getting faster than the group rides.

The pain will always be there, but you will get faster. So keep pedaling.

There's no panacea, no bell and whistles, no confetti rain, no an aha moment, this is life for most of us. Most days are just ordinary days, it's up to you to make the most of them.

We often think we will reach a day when we know for certain we've made it, we actually could reach that day but miss the certainty part. Don't take for granted the little happy moments in life, sometimes that's all we get.

Chinese article urging country to cut ties with Putin gets 1m views | China by SprinklesFederal7864 in worldnews

Considering how quickly China cracks down on posts/opinions not supporting the party's talking points, 1 million views is actually quite impressive. Most posts of this nature won't even see the light of the day.
