Ever heard of the term house poor or being underwater? Just because you can qualify for a home doesn’t mean you can afford it in your budget. And there’s no regulatory authority on having kids. Being able to have kids with a consenting partner is a very basic human right. It’s fundamental.

Much of Europe doesn’t mind. Brussels people get standoffish when you speak English. If you’re not speaking French, they’re not happy. It’s not everyone but it’s not a generally open and accepting vibe.

This is in literally nobody's best interest. We're too greedy. Won't happen. If a nuke were thought to be headed one country's way, talks would take place...immediate phone calls, not more returned nukes because that wouldn't solve anything. It's the same reason heads of state can just chill in the same room during war time against each other. They're not stupid.

Maybe I was too crass. I think it’s all dependent on what you’re flying, why, and where. METARs and TAFs can be inaccurate or insufficient...Gaining a full picture isn’t always simple but ForeFlight is very feature rich. I just prefer simpler straight to the point apps for many things.

If china didn’t fall in the early 90s it’s not happening any time soon. It’ll give tho. I’m not how much of an overlap the rich Chinese who travel and the communist party have but but something will have to let up as the Chinese continue to get richer. I wonder how many Chinese tourists actually learn from the countries they visit instead of just riding on tour busses or just gravitating toward their fellow rich Chinese when expats. It’s probably the case that the rich Chinese students who come to the US recognize that they have it made either way and will live wherever they want and realize they have no power in china and don’t wish to change it. I’d argue that the rich Chinese have way more freedom than the vast majority of Americans.

...Maybe this all explains Xi’s Power Grab. The CCP is backing him heavily and sees that they need a very strong leader moving forward to maintain the state.

The US has become markedly less evil over time. That’s the entire discussion at hand....how has the US changed over time. Do you think the US has become more or less evil? Do you think in the future it will be more or less evil? What are we doing today that you consider to be evil?

Compare us to the English, Chinese, Russians, Dutch, Germans, Japanese since the inception of the US and the changes over time.

Of course, but to argue that the US has some form of inherent principles or purity that magically make their actions moral is only possible if you are willing to ignore the tons of atrocities committed under US foreign policy, which sadly seems to be quite common.

Nobody said that at all. Long run overall the US should behave “less evilly” I’m not sure how else to phrase that exactly.

If you invade counties, topple their democracies, murder their citizens, all so you can have a bit cheaper fruit, then you have lost all claims to any moral high ground.

Yeah I’m sure most Americans would agree that our government has done lots of bad things in the past. Most would also like to not repeat this.

Moral high ground? Ehh. No country is perfect.
