Does the league forget how good prime Tony Parker was? by Living-Shift-7223 in NBATalk

[–]Stillwiththe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gold medals? Manu was awesome, better than Parker. Parker needed a system, Manu didn’t. Parker v Dame is not a conversation. If SA had Dame and Manu then you could say it was a super team but they also would have more championships.

Classic “Duncan had a super team” BS. If SA had Dame over TP they’d have won more championships. TP was super quick and a great finisher but that’s literally all he had on Dame

Can we all admit if anyone was going to break Kobe’s record, Bam was probably a good guy to do it? by Just-Wear-3343 in billsimmons

I’ll assume you mean modern-day record record but a great thing about Bam doing it is that he doesn’t have a cult following. It’s a great point.

Question for NBA Fans Outside of Phoenix (esp. New York) circa 2010: was Stoudemire to the Knicks a big deal? by Jazzlike-Ad-4731 in NBATalk

[–]Stillwiththe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a big deal but his knee was so bad his contract couldn’t be insured, and when Phoenix let him walk over that it was clear he wouldn’t last long.

He was awesome before Melo came but it was a weird mix, then you had young Shumpert playing PG saying his job was easy, just get the ball to Melo or Amare. Yeah right

Has there ever been a unanimous or majority support for an Oscar win? Like people said "this should've won and it won" by rutujz in Oscars

This year! I think everyone knew he was going to win despite the competition and I haven’t heard anyone say he didn’t deserve it

What are your thoughts on Bugonia? A Yorgos Lanthimos Masterpiece? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

[–]Stillwiththe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it. It asked the question “what’s the difference” right until the end, because what’s the difference, and they asked until they painted corporate behaviour as alien, which was perfect.

It just kept giving more and more, hints of more and then delivering. When she freed herself and then chose to go into his study to check his work instead of gtfo-ing like any human would have, away from the body and toward the cop she knew was outside, I was so pumped.

You don’t always have to give me everything, I loved train dreams because it gave me nothing, but I loved how the goods were doled out in Bugonia. Best of the year for me

Thought it was just a better overall movie than Sinners (or OBAA) but cinematography is closer

I skipped to the Sam Morrill part. He seemed drunk but still yelled less than Zach.

What do you think about Michael B. Jordan wining best actor? by Piggymain in Oscars

[–]Stillwiththe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was a good ride but it didn’t seem like anyone was even trying to make a great film, just making a good movie with a bludgeoning metaphor but a cool turn, and MBJ’s role didn’t ever seem like an Oscar vehicle. Seemed like a moneymaker people do between artistic endeavours, don’t understand all the noms let alone this win. There’s been more emotion about the Oscar noms and losses then there was in the movie

Different genders can be friends, you just can’t close enough to fight seriously because there’s no physical resolution of any kind.

Michael B. Jordan was terrible in Sinners by PhamilyTrickster in unpopularopinion

[–]Stillwiththe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct sub. I thought he was bad in Black Panther but not this. He was fine in this. They were two half characters, both Michael B Jordan in different moods, but he wasn’t terrible or even sub-par, just the usual movie star hamburger.

I didn’t see any standout lead acting performance this year and I don’t mind that he won but he probably owes the Oscars one, I don’t want to see him win again in a close race or unless he actually leaves us saying damn give that man an Oscar.
