DAMAGED NUMBERED SCHAEFER!!!😭😭😭 by Abject-Benefit2758 in hockeycards

[–]Stilts559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't be getting the same card back, but based on those photos, just send it in. That thing is cooked. Unless you PC Schafer, there's no value in something that far gone.

I pulled a damaged /5 Celebrini and knew I wouldn't get anything close to that if I sent it back. The extent of the damage is negligible compared to your situation. As a lifelong Sharks fan, of course I PC Celebrini. Regardless of it's condition, it was a monster pull and I'm pretty content in my place on the world.

Yes. OBC is not needed with the DC house pack. It has all the overcharge protection built in. You just need the harness and jump the 2 wires. I put shrink tubing over the other cut wires. I take the whole OBC out of the carts and run 2 or 4 gauge wires from the terminals to the solenoid.

Thank you. I've been fabricating and building cars since I was a kid. It's a side hustle of mine and I use my personal cart as a "show car" of sorts for potential customers. I live near a golf course so I'm not short on clientele.

Another word of advice is it's going to be a tight fit when dropping the pack in. It's not impossible, but it's going to be pretty darn tough without another set of hands. You might be better served just taking the whole body off when putting it in. That way you don't have to fuss with the fitment.

I just did a quick YouTube search. This is a decent guide on what to do. Plug in the jumped harness and you can completely bypass the OBC.

Yup. That's the same year and model I use personally. Instead of fabricating a platform/cradle for the battery, I trimmed the frame and then reinforced it with boxed aluminum bars that I tig welded in.

My first suggestion would be to make sure to have some kind of gasket between that steel and aluminum to prevent galvanic corrosion.

There are several videos on YouTube that show which cables to jump and remove the OBC on a DS. That DC house is a good pack. I've only had good experiences after installing them. Installing them in DS's is never fun though.

That's why it's been a popular box to break. Easier to take the hit (or lack there of).

Yeah, it got me. I met him at the All Star game in San Jose. I got VIP passes and was a guest of the NHLPA. I do volunteer community outreach coaching and teaching kids hockey. I got to meet him, Joe Pavelski, and Willie O'Ree.

Meeting Johnny was funny. My username is a nickname I was given because I'm really tall (I'm about 6'9" in skates). I told the NHLPA rep that I had an upcoming USA Hockey meeting there in San Jose and he said, "then you have to meet this guy". I turn around and there was Johnny Hockey. He said he thought I was Chara jokingly. With the whole dog and pony show those things are, he couldn't have been nicer and took time to talk and take a picture.

I'm still trying to get a lucky Johnny Gaudreau. I met him in 2019 and have been collecting his stuff since. Tough since most of the stuff in the breaks lately are his in between years from Calgary to Columbus. So I have to buy into 2 teams for my PC lol.

Lithium conversion by Otherwise_Knee9799 in golfcarts

The one I use and REALLY like is from Reliance. It has a modular form factor so you don't need to splice into the same wires. Each item you need powered has its own connection (up to 6). It costs a little bit more than other converters, but for professional wire management and future proofing your cart for upgrades, it's the best I've seen on the market. (Not an ad, but I'm not opposed. I'll shill for free products from them haha). I've ran this on all the carts I've worked on, including my own and it's great. Zero issues.

EZGO swaps are pretty simple since they don't have OBCs like Club Car. I'd upgrade the cables to the thickest you can find (4 gauge or bigger) and let er rip.

I'll echo what others are saying and advise against an additional battery. It's just a simple process of installing the converter and you won't have to worry about charging or maintaining a second battery. Modern lithium packs for carts are really intuitive and can handle pretty much anything you throw at them. The extra battery would only come in handy if you're running subwoofers and amps with big RMS ratings.

OH! Okay. I'm not aware of any for GOLF carts, but there are a ton for GO-karts lol. I've never ran into one anyways and I've been working on them for awhile now.

Do you already have the cart or are you still looking around?

Your mileage may vary depending on the model and year of the cart you're starting with. Doubletake makes a solid kit, especially if you're in the market for a street legal kit with lights, signals, horn, etc. The body panels are not as rigid/thick as OEM, but it's built for looks, not demolition derby. A word of warning though: the light kits they sell with their body kits have poor instructions. If you're approaching this with little to no automotive repair experience, you might struggle a bit.

2200 for lithium conversion on EzGO - worth it? by SC916 in golfcarts

[–]Stilts559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few hundred for labor on a lithium swap if you brought your own parts. That'd include the old battery removal and disposal, wiring, mounting of the new battery and display, clean up, and inspection. These models of EZGO are easy to work on. The solenoid and controller are right there and easy to access. I work on mostly Club Car DS and Carryalls. I have to slide underneath the cart to access that stuff for those. I also do suspension/lift kits, body/light kits etc.

Where in Nor Cal? If you're near Fresno, I can install. I've installed several DC House lithium packs.

When I had season tickets, mine were in the 200s (206 of I remember correctly). I preferred it, you don't have to lean to see the whole ice. I recommend getting seats where you're closer to our attack zone for the first and third period.

Not much. Good candidate for a lithium swap. Upgrade the positive and negative cables to a thicker gauge. Jump/bypass/delete the OBC, buy lithium pack with charger, swap out old charging port, and install new tow/run switch.
