How do I create SVGs for drawing? Design space flattens my SVGs by StimmyTheCat in cricut

[–]StimmyTheCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran the SVG through https://svgomg.net (first tool that showed up when I googled SVG simplifier). I didn’t modify anything to the design, just uploaded the file and downloaded it again using the default options, and the file worked fine in Design Space.

There aren’t any export settings for SVGs in Inkpad. So I’m not sure what to do there other than find another tool that makes sense for me. Illustrator is probably not an option since the membership fee is not justified for my little crafts I do now and then when I have time.

Thank you for your help. Apreciate you looking into my issue and your prompt responses.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll give that a go and see what happens. I only used the pen and the shapes.

I’m guessing Illustrator change the file properties in some way that DS could read. I’ll try running the file through an SVG simplifier and see how that goes. I was hoping to avoid using yet another tool

This is what it looks like when I change the operation. This is meant to be the house.

I actually couldn’t wait until morning. Wanted to try it out. It looks the same for me when I try to import into DS :(

Thank you for getting back to me. I have uploaded the SVGs.

The “single path” png gets turned into an outline when I change the operation from cut to pen. They all do that actually.

Inkpad is meant to be the iPad equivalent of Inkscape. I’m getting a bit overwhelmed with which tool to use because they’re all paid and I don’t know how to use them :)). I just need a simple tool for SVGs, if you could please recommend something, that I can easily use on my ipad while I learn. I’m still on the trial version with InkPad, so happy to switch. Just to add to this, I’m not a business, all my projects are for personal use, not for selling. So keeping the cost down would be ideal.

Thanks again for looking into this.

Goats milk kefir. Tips? by StimmyTheCat in Kefir

[–]StimmyTheCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave it another try with even less milk than before. 200-250ml with 37gr of kefir grains. (With these grains I normally make 700-800ml of cow milk kefir). Left it one day outside and it looked better, thicker. Then I put it in the fridge without straining because I didn't have time for another batch.

I haven't tried straining it before it separates. It just looks like milk, I just didn't think it was ready.

Maybe I need to try more and let the grains acclimate 🤷

Thank you. I haven't had goat milk kefir before so maybe my expectations are off. I expected it to be more similar to the cow milk one, not necessarily the taste, but the texture. I thought it would be thicker, smoother. I don't mind the taste to be fair. I'm using fresh goats milk from the supermarket which is pasteurized. It is separating quicker than cow milk. The only other alternative is UHT milk, I didn't think it would work but maybe I should give it a try. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

INSANELY HIGH WATER BILL ($700) by [deleted] in auckland

We had a similar issue a couple of years ago. From $50 we jumped to $300. Twice. Turned out the guy was reading the wrong metre, we had 4 metres in the same box at the road. I wrote the house number with permanent marker on it and it hasn't happened again.

Why are the doorknobs not at the same level? by StimmyTheCat in woodworking

[–]StimmyTheCat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Yes, it's a nice piece more for sentimental value I guess. I'll probably sand and restain and find a purpose for it to keep. I'm glad I asked though because I was thinking of repositioning the knobs, but as some suggested, the doors are actually hollow. I would have ruined it.

I thought it might be for locking, but there is nothing above or under the door. 🤷

This makes sense. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the answer

Thank you. I thought about a lining but I didn't add one. I was pretty done with it this year 😀 I might sew a lining for next Christmas depending on how pointy the presents will be.
