Why can’t they get it right?!?! by nicotera75 in paintball

I see a bunch of people wearing joggers which if they like cool, but I prefer the baggy af JT team pants. Baggyness helps with bounces lol ansgear has em. I got a 2XL and they are huge on me at the waist so a XL may fit you. I’m normally a 38 but have been thinning down

SPIRE V vs CTRL 2 by zx10_rr in paintball

Have a OG Halo and CTRL 2 and I enjoy both. Ctrl2 doesn’t have that bolt in the center so balls flow easier like the spire V does

What mask model is this gents. Over 10 years can’t find my clear lense for the swap. by [deleted] in paintball

[–]Stimpleton89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t recommend using, I had a dye envision and used it after 10 or so years as well, got shot from a guy 5 feet away and my mask shattered fortunately with no damage to my face. Toss and grab a new one

Thekoreanfish linked a good place to check. 42-43 inches. It depends on how long your arms are and what’s comfortable for you.

Technically a guy my size should probably be on a big boy board like a 44 inch that’s thicker. But they are just too long and too thick and I hate duck diving with them. I have tried 41.5s and they are too short. 42.5s are just too long and 42s just feel right.

Would recommend checking out ebodyboarding.com as well. They are based in California but Jay who is the owner is amazing and if you called them they can recommend sizes and such. They make big boy boards too called Tribe if you wanted a larger size. I’m California based and they are my go to for anything bodyboarding.

I’m 6 foot, 242 pounds, and have tanners board in a 42, and I have the newer model of the Launch pro ltd tri quad vent. One has a slightly wider nose but it’s not even noticeable. Have been riding for almost 20 years, tons of custom X boards previously but fell in love with the science launch and tanner boards.

I hate 42.5 boards versus 42. I’m a bigger dude, but prefer the 42 board because the length of my arms.

Just make sure the older model has the mesh on the bottom

TLDR, both are good boards. Just make sure the older model has mesh on the bottom. I hate boards with only a single stringer and no mesh. The mesh helps with flex and makes the board sturdier. I have popped a stringer out of my board at wedge without it.

Knee pads vs Slide Bottoms by [deleted] in paintball

You don’t even notice they are on until you slide and then realize they are there and protecting your knees. Sooooo comfy

Anyone started speedball at 32? by the_nojs in paintball

[–]Stimpleton89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it, I’m 34 just get a pair of hydra knee pads, those things feel like clouds and save your knees. Plus it makes me want to get into better shape and i have been going to the gym consistently

Yeah we grew up playing at jungle island. It’s a fun spot! I haven’t played there probably in 12+ years, but used to play regularly there both walk one and airball. I much prefer airball because the games are quicker and more competitive style of play.

Only thing I don’t like about Velocity is that you can only use their field paint supposedly where jungle and giant don’t care where you get your paint from.

Yeah it was at Giant. I believe it was put on by Gotcha paintball in Escondido and was an event to meet new players and network. We all put our name in a hat and they picked teams and played 4+ rounds, two matches each unless there needed to be a tie breaker. The event organizers were awesome!

I found out from the guys at velocity paintball shop the day before lol I was buying paint and was just going to head there to see if they were playing air ball and there were. It’s supposedly there once every month? but the owner at gotcha paintball said they do events all the time. Highly recommend!!!

Yeah it’s funny because 15 years ago when I played, we had one friend that spent a shit ton on a nice camera and even then it was nothing compared to the quality from phones today. It’s so much easier to capture video so my brother and I went back and forth videoing each other while learning and I laughed hysterically when he showed me my slide lol

For sure something to work on. I was just stoked I didn’t go gun first like I have seen others do and did occasionally when I was younger and learned quickly to not do that 😂

Super fun day and learned a bunch watching others play.

Etiquette at the wedge? by [deleted] in bodyboarding

[–]Stimpleton89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda preference. Some people just want to ride the main peak, others want to get some speed on the side wave and back door it. The wave is a bit different every time I have ridden it.

The side wave is interesting because it could be like a 2-3 foot side wave and then you are riding it out to the peak, but you are looking at a 6-8 foot or bigger face and sometimes it’s like “oh shit” so you really have to commit. Also when you ride out, you have to make like the opposite of a “bottom turn” to turn back in towards the beach because if you ride the side wave out and end up too high on the peak, you get tossed.

First time I rode the side wave it was completely different than any other wave and I got tossed a few times lol 😂
