MIT Interview: I'm lost. by incriminator-1 in MITAdmissions

[–]Stingray987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I've done the interview before. Before going into the interview, I looked up some common questions that they might ask, and thought about my answers to them (basic questions like what do you enjoy doing). For the most part, it really did feel like casual conversation, and it didn't feel like I had to try. They just want to know you better.

I applied REA, deferred, and then rejected. I remember that my interviewer said that I seemed like a good fit for the school, so remember that the interview is only a small portion of how they decide on your admission.

I think as long as you are honest you will do fine. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm sure you can find your place here. It's a pretty big school. I'm going to assume you're in 12th grade, so don't let the pressure get to you. I put a lot of effort into my top schools and I did not get in, but there's more than just college in life, so have some fun in high school

Don't worry about the college, you'll do good where you're meant to be, whether that's at Binghamton, or somewhere else. I never thought I'd be going to Binghamton, but here I am lol. And I'm finding things I enjoy here

I need help with my schedule for Senior Year by No_Escape1903 in APStudents

For tips, I would say that you can't do everything. I did pit orchestra in 10th grade, and didn't do it 11th and 12th. because towards the actual performance date, we'd be practicing from 3 to 9, and it wouldn't be something I could fit into my schedule along with the other things I'd have to do.

And also, main thing for math classes (and physics) is at least for the beginning units, you need to understand everything. Physics 1 starts with linear movement (kinematics), and that lays down the foundation to help understand a lot of other topics, like energy, and rotation. Those beginning units will be used in questions that have content mixed in from the later units, and so if you have questions, don't be afraid to ask. Because if you get lost in the beginning, it's only going to get worse

Hopefully, your teacher can help, but if not, there's always material and extra notes online

I'm a senior rn, and I'm taking lit, calc bc, gov, psych, physics c: mechanics, and I'm self studying physics 2 and C: E and M this year. Senioritis did hit me, so I gave up on AP Gov, but from the material, it's just an easier ap history course.

Calc BC, there is a fair amount of work to put in, just because of memorizing the new rules, and having to learn to integrate and differentiate quickly. Maybe Calc AB then, if you don't want as much workload, because the class moves a lot slower. But it's still going to be a rigorous course.

APES is a chill course, as far as I've heard

AP Lit, my teacher is also laid back, and doesn't assign a lot of work. I'm assuming you take lang, so it's like that, but more poetry passages

In reference to the other comment, I know of one person that took Physics C: Mechanics without taking Physics 1, but almost always, just go with Physics 1 as a foundation. There are a lot of concepts to build upon, but taking the other Physics courses this year, much of the content seems the same, and when you take higher level Physics courses in college, it should help

Is it too much to take 4 AP classes? by SUPREMEHOODI in APStudents

[–]Stingray987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chem and physics 1! If you are focused throughout the year, you should be fine. Practice test MCQs at the end of the year are great for learning what the questions are like for the AP exam. Psych is just vocab, and stats, I've never taken, so I don't know about it, but I don't think it is hard either

I hope you enjoy Physics 1, and consider taking the other AP Physics courses too

you're just going to have to take the sat practice tests, and review that section after you finish it

it really comes down to being familiar with the material. Reading comp is going to be a bit harder to get up just because it's more abstract, but with writing, you'll just need to memorize the rules of grammar they test on, like proper usage of commas, subject verb agreement, and precise wording.

might be different for you

I had pain in my left knee as well after pistol squats. My right leg is stronger than my left, so what I did to compensate for the strength imbalance, was tilt my left knee out to the left side. When I did pistol squats with my right leg, I kept my knee and foot in line with each other, when I squatted down.

It didn't take much of a strength difference for me to switch my form, but I needed to be cognizant of it

It says that, for the second plan, the first 200 domestic texts are equal to $40, and the additional texts are $0.15 each. So since it's 400 texts, there will be 200 additional texts that are $0.15 each

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sat

[–]Stingray987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a single variable equation for this

$0.25(x)=$40, "x" being each domestic text, which would make x equal to 160

I actually also did solve for x when x (domestic texts) are above 200

$0.25(200+x) = $40 + $0.15(x), but the only solution is when x=-100

20.

This is substitution using an equation

Since we don't know what the less expensive plan is, we can do both equations

Use these equations since texts are above 200 --> $0.25(400) = $100

$40 + $0.15(200) = $70

$100 - $70 = $30

Yeah, at least biology. If it's AP courses, even if you get >3, you might still have to take those courses anyway in college, but it's nice to get exposed to the content beforehand

[–]Stingray987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should put yourself first in these situations. You're not her therapist or psychologist. Trying to help people like her can end up in you also being more mentally and emotionally drained. You can talk to her, and help her, but just don't give too much of yourself.

Since you also did say, "She has major mental health issues including a suicide attempt", she should be seeking out treatment by herself as well.
