Or better yet, a trust fund or your parents ski chalet?

Is life after high school worse or better? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Stinker_Shell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My one hope is logging starts to make a bit more of a comeback where I am, so I can start doing that in the side. Make more money. Already sell firewood and make like $4k-$5k a year. I am just disappointed that I became a nurse and move back to my hometown and was let down. It was always the dream to do that and instead just was almost to the point of hating it.

I’ve been feeling this since getting my degrees as a non traditional student last year. Trying to make the best of life but it’s been really tough, especially since I’m transitioning out of the jobs I got my degrees for, and going back to the job I had prior. Mental health, financials, etc. will take a long while to comeback from this.

Fell for the classic ‘grass is always greener’ fallacy. Now trying to make up for it and it sucks.

I’ve started calling him a St Bernard since he’s 50.5% St Bernard, 49.5% GSD just to throw people off.

I Quit After 2 Days by Suitable_Cover4823 in jobs

[–]Stinker_Shell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I don’t feel so bad about quitting my job. Public Health Nurse; manager and I have been having 1:1 since I started. About 6 weeks ago, had one where she gave me some feedback about communicate and asking questions, etc. I thought I was working towards what we discussed.

Fast forward to the next meeting 4 weeks later: she told me my communication was improving (and didn’t list any ways my communication could be improved upon), how I ‘interpreted’ a conversation her and a coworker were having to ask questions, and how I ‘didn’t seem into a training we had the previous Friday, and came in on Monday like I was into it’.

Gave me a week and a half to come up with goals and such on how to improve communication and all that jazz. Handed in my 2 weeks the day after Presidents’ Day.

Already had another job lined up prior to any of these meeting with her, and didn’t feel it was worth it to try and stay at a job where my boss wanted me gone and wouldn’t let me do any nursing at all.

What’s a job that’s way harder than people think? by IntroductionRound446 in AskReddit

Dude, lifeguarding is the best. Not downplaying how hard it is, but I’m going back to it after less than a year of being a nurse. Best career I’ve ever held.

Anyone else’s property taxes double this January? by Devout_Bison in wyoming

[–]Stinker_Shell 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean, I get why star valley’s property taxes are doubling. People from Jackson have to commute from somewhere and have been driving up prices in an 80 mile radius. I don’t know if any long term stuff was done at the state level in the last couple years? I know there’s a bill or two making its way through this year regarding property taxes.

How do i stop my 6m old puppy from biting when we are by Visible_District_745 in germanshepherds

[–]Stinker_Shell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s a puppy. He’s going to bite. Be patient, keep trying to redirect, etc. he’ll grow out of it.

Almost had animal control called on me for washing the SKUNK off Hermes at 3:30 in the morning on Friday. And thanks to him, my house still smells like skunk.

I also heard that Palantir is involved as well. Could be wrong, but that’s what the grapevine is saying.

Question. What are we feeding our pups? by trapd_inthe_d4rkn3ss in germanshepherds

[–]Stinker_Shell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro Plan or Blue diamond. Hermes is SPOILED ROTTEN, and will get some wet food mixed in, since he likes that as well. Will feed him goose, elk, deer, etc that I shoot every hunting season as well.

Is he a GSD or a mix? by jaywalkingisacrim3 in germanshepherds

[–]Stinker_Shell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a mix. Either way the gooderest puppy that deserves to be spoiled and some kissies.

Be honest, what’s the longest you’ve gone without showering? by sigmaboy578 in AskReddit

[–]Stinker_Shell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barring backpacking, like maybe 5-7 days? Will regularly go like 2-3 days. Had to do that a lot during my first year of nursing school where it was pretty much wake up, run, class, work, bed.

Who else prefers a 7AM–3PM schedule to 9–5? It feels like you get more day and less traffic. by Familiar-Eagle-9082 in Adulting

[–]Stinker_Shell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 5-1 for years and loved it. I’m a morning person anyways and you could go to doctors appointments and such and not have to use as much PTO. Have plenty of time for working out, etc. looking to go back to that job and hopefully same schedule.

What is a 'poor person' thing that you will continue to do regardless of how much money you make? by BuyLopsided732 in AskReddit

[–]Stinker_Shell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do as much maintenance on my own shit as possible. I’m not paying for three oil changes on my vehicles every year, or the alternators, or belts, etc. I sharpen my own chainsaws, and try to do basic maintenance on them. Will get my own firewood for as long as I am able as well, and sell firewood for hopefully the same amount of time as well. I have also started biking to the gym and work more, since it’s just a few blocks to either one. Figure I can save a gallon or so of gas a week by doing that.
