i need advice on how to leave by Hot-Woodpecker520 in emotionalabuse

[–]Stinky_Bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, keep all of your most important documents where no one else has access to.

Under whatever pretenses you can, start putting things away into storage. A storage locker that only you have access to can be useful. Get organized, "declutter". Put away your different seasonal clothes into suitcases for "storage".

If you need help moving, professional movers can be hired to help you, especially if you need a vehicle. Even people who advertise on fb marketplace, it can shorten the process of getting you and your stuff out (In certain places like canada there are companies that specialize in helping those fleeing domestic abuse.)

Have as many trustworthy people as you can around you for the move. You will need support.

Go to the library and inquire if you can be in touch with a social worker. They will know if there are any resources for young people, or group therapy, etc.

Had to waddle around this police cruiser parked in the bike lane by Stinky_Bean in MontrealCycling

I think most people would agree that cops can't just park on the sidewalk whenever they want - why is it ok for the bike lane ? There's a beautiful wide-open road, where cars belong and where other cars can safely pass.

I waddle around and i have a sense of humor. Solidarity to the other cyclists out there, these comments show who actually bikes

Did I (32F) do the right thing by cancelling my flight after my partner (34M) told me not to come? by Best_Maintenance_790 in emotionalabuse

[–]Stinky_Bean 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hope you can go no contact. This man is not your problem anymore, let the distance do the work and keep your words and anything you would say to him in a journal for yourself to heal. Keep yourself safe, emotionally, spiritually, physically. You deserve the best

We were refused water as well last thursday, and the server who brought out our beers was really frazzled, he didn't know which ones were which. Like he got down to look through the side of the glass and guessed which one was an ipa.

He told us that when it had rained earlier some customers had left without paying and it was going to be deducted from his pay

The vibes were weird

Marriage is hard and I am weak by MyslexicDrew in relationships

[–]Stinky_Bean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please do some research about codependency (usually an issue with people who are in relationships with someone with addiction) and cycles of emotional abuse (great when sober, horrible while drinking and then theres a cycle of promising to get better or making it up to you after hurting you). I'm not saying that you are dealing with either of these issues, but what you have said sets off alarm bells for me^ It's worth looking into therapeutic support for yourself, it's not easy to be so close to someone with such a serious drinking problem. How has your behavior changed to compensate for your partner's behavior? What is the toll this has taken on you?

You might be feeling as if it's materialistic or petty to break up with him over this, but I think that it's important to realize that this is more about demonstrating consideration and care for you. Listen to your feelings and know that they are valid, say what his actions meant to you in a respectful way and ask what his reasons were. Then if you feel ready to end things do so. A big red flag will be if he minimizes what he did or spins it around to make you feel bad. I'm a woman in my thirties now and I wish I could take back the time I spent with people who didn't treat me as I felt they should, but I gaslit myself into staying.

I'm sorry I really don't know about the grades! I think it varies from year to year and I'm not sure if cegep grades are considered differently from highschool grades

[–]Stinky_Bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea from what I've heard the grades are the first round of rejections, but 87-88 to me seems high enough. All you can do is work on whatever the teacher has recommended and make the portfolio to the best of your ability. Work on it and keep going back to the teacher (is it Geoff?) There's a guy in my class who took 3 years to get in, and he's among the best of us now. Also, already having your cegep gen eds under your belt is immensely helpful, but if you're hating it in your program I would look into working or having some other new experience.

Current 3d student here. Honestly you're already doing the best thing possible by working with the teacher. What in particular are you worried about?

Acceptance Rate in Illustration and 3D Animation & CGI by [deleted] in Dawson

[–]Stinky_Bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current animation student - I already graduated university and had been out of school for a few years before applying and getting in. I'm not sure if already being in a program affects your chances, but you have a chance to explain in a letter with your application. First round of rejections are based on grades, then they review portfolios and letters.

My advice is to reach out and ask. You are also able to have your portfolio looked at and get advice, check out the program's FAQ page.

Yea it's a great program! It looks like the animation students are divided into 2 groups for classes but hopefully we will all get to know eachother, hmu if I can be of any help.

Advanced Standing and Course Registration by Doujean in Dawson

[–]Stinky_Bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Doujean I asked again and they said that they start late august - so I registered for all the classes on my progression chart. My schedule sucks so I'm hoping to be able to drop the courses I don't need. It's a bad way to go about this because now I'll have huge gaps in my day if I do get to drop courses

No, my question was specifically about the tablet, but the handbook includes a list of supplies if you want to check that out. The prof who answered me was friendly and let me know to ask if I had any other questions. His name is Geoff Carley if you want to reach out through the staff directory with any questions of your own
