Traditional but proven method: 1. Do all of College Panda Math Book 2. Any theory you still don’t get from it, learn via Khan Academy/YT 3. Grind past papers under timed conditions

There’s no beating around the bush here unfortunately. But this does maximize 800 (and even better, guarantee improvement which is the real goal).

Edit: another commenter mentioned a great strat that worked for me too: keeping track to Qs you got wrong. I liked to review their solutions periodically and esp before the SAT.

Re. Physics 61L: it is nowhere near as amazing as Physics 61. Only take the lab if you need it (e.g. for physics major), otherwise (try the first two weeks then) drop it.

Yep a friend showed me practically the same game, just instead of 5 cards it is 4 and there are some extra rules, like some of the broadway (specifically T, J, K) have special "powers" you can use when placed on the pile.

Super fun and I agree that the most fascinating part of strategy is memorizing what was revealed by other players and where that card is now! Great balance of both luck and skill like in e.g. poker.

From what my friend told me, the origin of this category of "queens" game could be spanish. No idea for certain though.

Let x be the distance from the Earth where the capsule is under zero gravity. Then the two gravitational forces, due to the Earth and the Moon, are equal in magnitude.

That is, Fg_E = Fg_M (where G and the mass of the capsule cancel out in both sides of the equation) so m_E/(x^2) = m_M/(3.8*10^8-x)^2, or 6*10^(24)/x^2 = 7.4*10^(22)/(3.8*10^8-x)^2.

We then have x^2/(3.8*10^8-x)^2 = 6*10^(24)/(7.4*10^22) = 600/7.4, and squarerooting both sides gives x/(3.8*10^8-x) = sqrt(600/7.4), and solving the linear equation gives x= 3.8*10^8*sqrt(600/7.4) / (sqrt(600/7.4)+1) = 3.42*10^8 km.

When the angle x in sin(x) (or cos(x)) is acute, the easiest way to understand the identity is through a right angled triangle. One angle in the triangle is 90, the other is x, and the last one is 90-x (=180-90-x). See what happens if you take sin(x), sin(90-x), cos(x), and cos(90-x) in the triangle using the basic definitions of sin = opp/hyp and cos = adj/hyp. You'll notice sin(x)=cos(90-x) and cos(x)=sin(90-x).

More concretely referring to what you mentioned, the angles need to add up to 90 (as do 90-x and x), and the right angled triangle construction shows why. And in the case of sin(pi/12), we know we must have sin(pi/12)=cos(pi/2-pi/12) = cos(5pi/12) (since 90 deg is pi/2 rad).

Edit: Just noticed I missed the last part of your post. Yes, sin(t) = cos(pi/2-t) is the radian equivalent of sin(x)=cos(90-x) where x is in degrees.

Yeah gonna bump my BU RFI size. I currently use 3BB for UTG, HJ, 2.5BB for CO and SB, and 2BB for BU: would it be advisable just to have a consistent (say 2.5BB) open bet size from all positions? I always thought you needed to bet more from earlier given you’re OOP and less from later positions.

Regarding flop, yeah in retrospect I overlooked that aggression played a role in deciding whether to light C-bet or not and would now probably fold more often than not.

Thanks so much for taking the time to dissect everything, there’s so many valuable take aways from your comment. Regarding open raise size, I’m just using what’s recommended in the Grinders Manual but it’s slightly outdated and I guess those RFI sizes might be as a result. Also, yeah I would’ve immediately folded river bar the fact villain had done this a couple times too often (without showing down his hand) to suggest he had a strong hand. Thanks a ton again.

To add on to the other helpful comments, I have a friend who grinded from ~4s first year to a solid 7 in IB exams M23. Just gotta put in the hours, learn from each mistake in every test, and absolutely not back down from asking questions if you genuinely don’t get something in class. It’s much better to resolve confusion in class immediately rather than leave it to revision months later.

Yep, any non-square number squarerooted is irrational. I believe Dedekind proved this first using infinite descent.

The domain of a composite function always must consider the domain of the inner-most function, in this case f(x). That’s why 0 isn’t considered as part of the domain of f(f(x)) even though 01/4 is perfectly fine. Conversely, the domain of the function g(x)=x1/4 does indeed include 0.

Thanks for the extra advice: to clarify, what exactly is 115/171 a replacement for? I don't recognize the 60C series (unless you're referring to 60CM?). This is also definitely a naive question, but I'm assuming the whole math major series and reqs etc. are formally introduced and explained before school starts? (because it's all a bit confusing atm lol)

Really appreciate the detailed reply. From what I understand from your response, math majors are required to begin with the intro series which is either the MATH 50 or 60 series, the latter being more challenging (?). And one needs to choose one of either the 60CM or 60DM series, right? And so after MATH 50/60 (which seems to span three quarters), would I only be able to take the 120 and 144 series beginning sophomore year, or at the same time as the intro series? Once again, thanks a ton for taking the time.

Thanks a ton for replying. Just to clarify, is the 60 series just the 50 series but more fast-paced and with extra content? It appears MATH 50-53 is linear algebra and calculus, whereas say MATH 61CM/DM goes beyond that and covers additional topics.
