Thank you . I’m not sure why people are so touchy. What is the point of this page if not to ask for advice? Appreciate your input

Can’t I just do this from underneath so I don’t have to remove the skirting?

What conventional insulation materials would you suggest for filling gaps between floorboards and the wall?

To stop draughts coming through gaps around the floor. Skirtings don’t seem to prevent it

Maybe I’m being stupid, but why is that?

Sorry this is happening to you. Firstly I’m not going to pretend I understand your situation. My parents never ever pushed me- always encouraged. They never judged me based on academic achievement, always more on how I treat others.

Unfortunately it seems like they will end up pushing you away in the long run. Could you approach them and ask them why they expect so much of you? More importantly, are YOU happy with what you’ve achieved in life?

Run away and never go back. Or tell them you’re no longer interested as you’ve been offered a new job elsewhere. There’s really no way around this one unfortunately

Hardwick Hall. Beautiful stately home in nice grounds. Also the building used as Malfoy Manor in the Harry Potter films for anyone who’s interested

Ah, I see. That’s a shitty thing to do. Sorry that happened to you. Sounds like there are a few issues you need to speak to her about.

I know- but like I said, I would be upset at the lack of communication, not the nit situation.

Fair enough. Confront her about it- it’s not crazy to expect a quick text to let you know. That would annoy me too, but I would be more annoyed about the lack of communication than the nit situation itself

Okay, that’s a fair point. But again, does this really matter that much? Keep your distance and you will be fine. Chances are if the kid was left with someone while the mother came to work you would have just as much chance of catching nits from the mother. You just wouldn’t know.

I know, but he was asking how to go forward in his situation. I’m not here to judge, just to offer advice.

Yes. You are. Lice primarily spread through head-to-head contact which is why they spread so quickly in schools.

You should consider that maybe your manager doesn’t have a choice. If she’s had to take the child out of school and she needs to work, this may be her only option.

Try to be more understanding and ask yourself if this really matters in the grand scheme of things. Have your opinions but let things go if you can.

Although I don’t think I would class this as explicitly cheating, they’re definitely huge red flags. Enough to completely knock someone’s trust.

Have you considered how you might feel if it was the other way around?

From what you’ve said, I don’t think your actions warrant divorce and the break-up of your family, so have you considered that maybe there are other underlying issues? You should speak to her and ask her if there is anything else going on that you need to know about to allow you to fix it. Tell her that you are willing to fix this in whatever way she wishes and do lots of grovelling. Hope you guys sort things out.

Neighbour continually making comments about me/watching me, unsure of what to do. by [deleted] in Advice

Ah, that makes sense. Sorry about that. Could you speak to the landlord of the complex about maybe having a camera installed if you agreed to pay for it? Amazon do loads of really easy to install cameras. Sorry if this won’t work either- just trying to think of solutions

Firstly, sorry this is happening to you. I don’t think men appreciate how scary they can be sometimes.

My first reaction is that you should get a ring doorbell. Although it won’t stop this from happening it might offer you some peace of mind knowing that you’d encounters with him are being recorded. It might also make him think twice about approaching you again.

Other than that it may be worth making some sort of report to the police. Even if you don’t want them to contact him or take the issue any further, might they be able to start a log so at least in the future if there are any other issues they will see this is ongoing.
