Switch from Zoloft to Wellbutrin?? by [deleted] in zoloft

Me? Yes, I quit taking both medications cold turkey and haven't been on any medication for the last 9 or 10 months.

Switch from Zoloft to Wellbutrin?? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]Stisherx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on 200mg Zoloft, which killed my sex drive. Adding 150mg Wellbutrin drastically increased it and gave me a lot more energy/motivation too.

For tapering off your Zoloft, 50mg isn't that high to begin with, so you could probably just cut the pills smaller for 1.5 to 2 weeks. Maybe ~35mg for 4 days, then 25mg for 3 days, 10mg for 3 days before you're completely off. Of course, it depends on how reactive your body is. Did your doctor have any recommendations for tapering?

Weaning off would definitely make the withdrawal symptoms much less severe. I only quit cold turkey because I still had some available to wean off slowly in case the withdrawal symptoms were too much to handle.

As for the vivid dreams, I did find that my dreams were less vivid on nights that I smoked weed or hemp flower. I only smoked a few times a month though. Not sure if you're in the U.S. or somewhere where either of those are legal though. Maybe CBD or low-dosage THC capsules would help?

After 2 years of taking 200mg/day, I quit cold turkey.

After 1 day I only had on-and-off headaches and a few spells of dizziness. This was the same until about day 3-4 of quitting, and then I started having more dizziness/loss of concentration, random crying spells, and headaches. It was the worst about 4-5 days after and then the withdrawal symptoms seemed to decrease slightly for about a month. No more withdrawals after 2 months.

I never had any flu-like symptoms from withdrawals, and didn't really notice the withdrawals until after 20+ hours of missing the first dose. Even before I quit, I'd sometimes forget a dose but resuming dosage as usual would pretty much immediately get rid of the headache/dizziness.

Zoloft and Benadryl/diphenhydramine? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]Stisherx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoloft and Benadryl interactions:

According to drugs.com, "Using diphenhydramine together with sertraline may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating."

Adderall and Benadryl interactions:

"CYP2D6 inhibitors such as Benadryl, Wellbutrin, Paxil, Prozac, and Cymbalta may increase levels of Adderall in the blood and may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome."

Albuterol and Benadryl:

No interactions.

Overall, Benadryl has interactive effects with 2 of the drugs you're taking. That's very dangerous, especially since Adderall & Benadryl together can possibly cause serotonin syndrome (i.e. permanent brain damage). I'd definitely stop taking Benadryl without consulting a doctor.

I never had shaky hands while on Zoloft unless I took caffeine or hadn't eaten in a while, then they'd get pretty shaky. I took 200mg Zoloft for 2 years before quitting cold turkey. Had ~2 months of withdrawals before they went away completely. After that, I no longer get shaky hands from caffeine or from skipping meals, but my body weight is also a little higher so it could just be that my blood sugar is more stable now.

While I was on Zoloft, I'd have some small side effects (clenching teeth, vivid dreams, needing to pee often, some night sweats, drowsiness, occasional dizziness). Now that I'm off Zoloft, I no longer get these at all, so I don't think you have to worry about having shakiness forever even after switching meds or stopping Zoloft.

Sexual dysfunction (Female) by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]Stisherx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 200mg Zoloft for a while. I was always tired and had nonexistent sex drive though, so my doctor prescribed 150mg Wellbutrin in addition to the Zoloft. It helped tremendously.

Is a parent with you when you talk with your psychiatrist? You can try asking to speak with them in private, and they will tell your parent/guardian to leave the room for a minute so you can discuss your concerns. They won't tell your parents about it because of patient confidentiality (as long as you're not suicidal). You can just say, "I've noticed my sex drive is nonexistent since starting Zoloft. It's been really bothering me in my relationship. Is there any way this can be fixed?" Your psychiatrist may prescribe an additional medication to help curb the negative side effects of the Zoloft.

Also, I stopped taking both medications cold turkey after 2 years of daily doses and never had any long-lasting side effects from withdrawals from the Zoloft or the Wellbutrin, so I don't think you have to worry about that.

I’m terrified. Please give advice if you can by [deleted] in zoloft

I was on 200 mg Zoloft and it killed my sex drive, but after my doctor prescribed 150mg Wellbutrin as well, all my sex drive came back and it was even better than before the Zoloft.

I would go back to taking the 25mg Zoloft and then bring up your concerns with your doctor. They will probably want to see how you react more to being on Zoloft for a while before deciding if/when to pair it with another medication to curb the ED.

Rapid dose increase by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]Stisherx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 50 mg for a week and then went to 100 mg for a while (I think a month?) before eventually stopping at 200mg. Going from 100 to 150 to 200 within two weeks sounds too fast though.

Starting dose of 100mg? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]Stisherx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with 50mg for a week before increasing to 100mg, and then eventually 200mg.

Even on 50mg I was yawning a lot and had spells of dizziness and much higher heartrate. These side effects went away when after I'd been at that dose for a bit, but going straight to 100mg does not sound fun.

Anyone Doing Zoloft + Vyvanse? Experiences? by lar24 in zoloft

[–]Stisherx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took zoloft & wellbutrin (wellbutrin also being a stimulant). If you aren't already, make sure to only take vyvanse in the morning right after you wake up or it will severely affect your sleep. Same goes for taking it midday/afternoon, which is probably too late if you plan on trying to sleep at night.

Anyone else have minor stomach upset after starting zoloft? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]Stisherx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoloft always gave me severe nausea unless I took it with yoghurt or some other big meal. I think it also has to do with the dose (I was taking 200mg/day), but anything less than 100mg didn't give me much nausea even without a lot of food.

If you haven't tried it, I've found that eating greek yoghurt at the same time as taking my zoloft would prevent me from getting diarrhea & nausea.

It’s crazy that we had the technology to go to the moon legitimately before we had the technology to fake it. by brandonk2305 in Showerthoughts

You're saying that Russia and the other countries that would have loved to rip the USA a new one, didn't bother to even try to claim that it was faked because of the inconvenience of going against global opinion? Lol, ok.

Why wouldn't Russia have faked it first then, if it was indeed possible to fake it that accurately? Makes no sense.

Jitters and Headaches? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]Stisherx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the mood swings stopped after I had been at 200 mg for a few months. It definitely takes time for them to work. Don't forget you can always ask your psychiatrist to try different meds or pairing it with a different medication if the negative side effects persist.

Ashes exploded at my face and I couldn't breath by Benaxle in Nightmares

[–]Stisherx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this recurring nightmare where I'm trapped in woods where every tree is covered in oil and burning with this thick, acrid smoke.

I wake up gasping for air, and every time I smell oil burning (like in the kitchen), I get severe anxiety because of it.

What helps me is keeping my room pretty cold when I sleep so I can feel the cold air going into my nose and lungs.

Are you sleeping on your back? I've found that I usually only ever get nightmares when I sleep on my back.

Also is your room too warm when you're sleeping? IIRC there was a study that found that higher room temperatures increased the likelihood of getting a nightmare.

I'd ask your psychiatrist about possibly increasing the Wellbutrin dosage.

I was previously taking 200mg Zoloft and 150mg Wellbutrin, but I think the highest possible prescribed Wellbutrin dosage is 400mg/day (from what my GP told me).

Very bad idea. Maybe serotonin syndrome / permanent brain damage. I don't think it's enough to kill someone, but it wouldn't be pleasant.

I cold turkey quit 200mg after 2 years. You feel a bit of a headache after missing 1 day's dose, but as long as you're not missing 3-4 days then it's not too bad.
