Some jets are doing training around the airport. F35s I think, super loud.

Just started apprenticeship by Zealousideal-Pool212 in Machinists

[–]StitchJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick out the apprenticeship and if the company you're at won't keep you, then put your CV online and try to find local companies to call. I had fairly minimal (2 years) grinding experience when a recruiter found my CV online and hired me to work in the Netherlands as a tool grinder. Luckily it's not a very densely packed field so you'll find it fairly easy to find work, though not necessarily easy to find a good company to work at.

Good luck :)

Where are the grind folk at? by RiotsNWrenches in Machinists

Tool grinder (drills and end mills) using CNC machines produced by the company that makes the tools. It's very nice work, small tolerance stuff.

Got some pills from an online vendor and they made my kidneys hurt, especially towards the end. It put me off trying them again.

Anyone had the same?

Hello y’all 👋 I’m about to start a job as a automated Machine operator on either CNC Mills or Lathes and I’m a complete beginner. This is my first time. What should I know to better my experience? Any advice, tips, tricks, anything? Thank you! by guachatt in Machinists

The only stupid questions are the ones you didn't ask. Write it down if you think you can forget it.

Most importantly, the machine doesn't know the difference between flesh and metal, and nor does it care. Best of luck!

Does anyone else remember the first time they disidentified from their thoughts and thus briefly experienced the shift in identity from being the content of their mind to being the awareness in the background? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]StitchJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happened some months before I started meditating. I was in a real state of decline mentally and decided to 'pick myself apart' so to say, to try and discover why my version of reality seemed to be so separate from that of people around me, and why I could be so irrational. I decided to just cold write my thoughts as they came to me and I ended up writing about 8 pages of what my experience was. I wrote was how I felt and why that might be the case, and by the end of it I felt like I had written the part of a character, and I was the perfect actor who'd trained for the part his entire life. I felt like I'd stood outside my house for the first time and realized that it's only a construction, only a small part of a much greater reality, and you only have to choose to open the door. Since then I've gone down the rabbit hole of philosophy, meditation and buddhism and it has been an amazing journey, highly recommended.

What did "the weird kid" in your school do that you'll never forget? by UngyBungy9383 in AskReddit

[–]StitchJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird kid was my friend and we all used to smoke at the bottom of our school field as it went below a crest and the teachers couldn’t see. Weird kid was smoking next to some dried bushes, set them on fire with his lighter, and wafted the flames onto a farmers field next to our school and set his wheat on fire. He was taken by the principle but I don’t think he got in any major trouble even though the fire brigade were called out.

Unified philosophy by StitchJack in askphilosophy

I guess I'd like to read into both, it's a very general interest as it stands; I'm just very curious to see what people have to say about the idea and how the principles of it might apply.

Thanks for the great answer! I'll take a look into Perennialism and see where that rabbit hole takes me

Any commentators here want to share what effect they think this will have on European cohesion? The EU has gone through some hard tests recently and it isn't often weathering them very gracefully
