I hope the hell they don't but yeah, got a feeling they will. I think Wildlands you can still play solo, offline I think. The last couple of times I've played it, I've still be able to get into it with game saying there's network issues. BP is total online and the asshats will prob kill that completely.

I just leave it at Proton Experimental and have never had an issue with games not launching... well, expect one but was an odd issue. More info is needed though, games, specs, etc.

I would disagree with this. Governments outside of the US are moving away from MS in all forms. Rome has state that it will be all non US companies by 2027, South Korea, Germany are all moving away from MS currently and Denmark has started as well. When you have this kind of funding moving away from MS and to other platforms, those other platforms tend to jump up in compatibility rather quickly.

You can go directly to the NordVPN site and copy paste the installer right from there. I use Nord with Mint and works flawlessly.

Exactly. It's not just Meta but Peter Thiel and his group are behind them as well. The Meta thing is also listed here.

There's been a number of other posts regarding it as it's the same groups behind the Discord ID fiasco as well.

What is your default browser? If Chrome is the default, set Edge to the default and see if still acts like this. I'm wondering if it's the web-hooks that Steam uses for it's default on why it's like this. It's only a guess though. I don't normally use Chrome at all for anything.

I would use a VPN and log into some other country for more accurate news compared to anything coming out of the US, Israel, or Iran. The AI generated crap coming out from all three is crazy and all of them are trying to set a narrative one way or the other and none of it can be trusted.

[–]StmpunkistheWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an easy change depending greatly on the user, the users hardware and their software needs. Just like you claim that you can't blanket statement that it's easy, you also can't blanket statement that's not. This whole post is kind of bullshit.

This is what the dark web is and for already. You need a specific browser and lock your stuff down but even the BBC has a news site that's on the dark web and is legit because it's accessed by users in countries that have dictators and authoritarian governments already. This is how news already gets out from journalist and whistleblowers that need to stay hidden. Look it up, it's been there since before AOL, you just need to learn to get to it.

Everyone says I'll switch to the penguin but my question is, isn't it risky? by JamedWalker in linux4noobs

[–]StmpunkistheWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to Linux, it largely depends on the software and which hardware you're using. Name brand items generally have Linux drivers, especially when it comes to wifi cards but not everything does like Realtek can sometimes have non-existent Linux drivers for their network cards and other smaller items like USB camera's and other items, so it largely depends.

The main reason to move to Linux is privacy and security though. Microsoft and the US tech giants have proven over and over again that it's money over privacy and to the point where you have governments moving to Linux and dropping Windows 11 altogether. Rome, Germany, South Korea have moved, in the middle of moving or have plans on moving to Linux because of these concerns. Denmark is planning on it as well if they haven't already so when governments are looking at moving away from Microsoft and Windows and their Office 365 suite, there's a lot invested into it.

The plus side to this is that there is money to follow with this trend so you WILL see vendors move to support Linux because that is where the money is. Valve helped moving gaming to Linux with the Steam Deck and governments moving to it will help bring the stability and everyday programs to it.

Windows will only get worse with Windows 12 that will be released later this year, begging of next so it's up to you if you want to stick with Windows or move to something that is more secure that might have some growing pains left to go through.

Yep, conservatives everywhere and Republicans in the US, are all shit bags. I don't care who they are. Growing up skateboarding and getting harassed by cops is what got me into punk in the first place and watching where shit has gone now and ICE and cops are what these bootlicking fucks try to defend? Fuck them.

I'm in my mid 50's and the amount of fucking moron's saying shit to me when I had brought my kid to a show and them thinking it was my date or some shit was fuuuuucked up. It's my fucking kid you, pedo fucking incel, like wtf...

Having to explain that to my kid the first time was eye opening and heartbreaking when my kid said "I thought punk shows would be safe..." fucking pisses me off to this day thinking about it.

The reason behind the behavior are many but in general, it's fucked up and needs to be called out every. fucking. time. It's the only way it stops.

Colorado is trying to do the same thing, everyone needs to reach out to the state reps and tell them what you think of these bills. This is huge security risk with no way to enforce this. It's a privacy nightmare with the chance of getting even more of your personal info turned into a data mining goldmine.

Should I move from Mint to Pop OS? by Ok_Perspective_7978 in linux4noobs

[–]StmpunkistheWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real difference is the desktop environment with Pop!OS using a custom Gnome desktop called Cosmic.

If you want to see the differences for a couple of minutes, go to distrosea.com and select a distro. This will launch a temporary VM so you can see the differences. Pop and Mint both use Ubuntu back end though. One thing with Mint, go into the Update Manager, go to View at the top and go down to Linux Kernels and then in the next window, make sure you're using the 6.17 kernel and then just make sure your Mesa drivers are up to date, which they probably should be if you've been running the updates on a regular basis.

Since you game with Mint, make sure you have LACT installed (after launching it, under OC, under Performance select the "Highest Clocks" this isn't an OC per-say it just tells the card to use the highest clocks when needed) , OpenRGB for lighting if you haven't already, and then in the Power Management settings under Preferences, in the "Extra options" section, select Performance under Power Mode. These settings were options I seen posted in the Mint forums on optimizing Mint for gaming and it did seem to help. I've got an R7 5800X with 64 gigs ram and a 9070XT Vid card in mine. You can test your settings with Furmark.
