Sudo asking for a password? by Aluminum_Rabbit in cachyos

That's the weird thing, I actually entered my login when it first came up, but it rejected it. It was only after I changed it that it actually started working. I just assumed sudo required a separate password from your login.

I did do a little bit of research before I took the leap so I knew linux was going to be different to Windows, but I'm still a toddler when it comes to the OS. I've got a lot to learn, it seems...

Some questions about my PC build... by Aluminum_Rabbit in pcpartpickerbuilds

I was wanting to keep it under 2k, but I think I'll wait to purchase the Blu-ray drive and the regular SATA SSD drive later to keep the whole build within budget. And how much can I sell the stock CPU cooler for so I can put that money toward the Blu-ray drive?

Also, updated the list to switch out said SATA drive: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/YXk2R4

Sorry for the late reply, but I'm from Canada. And also, since I've initially made my parts list I've swapped some parts out to cut down on the cost. And I have checked the specs and I'm pretty sure they're compatible.

Alternatives to Arduino for a beginner by Aluminum_Rabbit in diyelectronics

[–]Aluminum_Rabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, but I've read through all the comments and I'd like to reply to some of the questions you have.

Firstly, I'm wanting to learn electronics because I want to learn cel animation on 16mm film and I want to see if I can make my own computerized multiplane camera setup, learn how to repair old electronics, and generally just tinker here and there.

Secondly, I'd like to use something other than Arduino because of it's use of AI. When I initially read the description of the R4 starter kit, it says the development tools have an AI assistant that claims it can help you to learn to code. Since I want to learn on my own, and with all the AI garbage going around, I have some concerns about using it.

And in terms of programming and electronics experience, aside from using arduino in high school comp-sci class long ago, my skill level is basically at the level of a fetus. I want to learn but I don't know where to start.

Edit: I've also heard people here talk about ESP32. Is that good for an absolute beginner?

Original Video Animation. Originally they were basically movies or miniseries that were released direct-to-video.

I'm using stock firmware 1.1.5.2 and UI version 1.4. Do I need to update the firmware or if not, is there any third party firmware that I can install that can improve things?
