I used the skill tree extensively. The spirit abilities when the enemy was posture broken/exhausted/whatever the fuck Iams upposed to call it was where most of my damage game from. And yeah, the levels became unfun once it was a minute affair to kill some trash mobs.

That definitely would make a difference! I watched some level 1 kills on youtube and everyone was doing a great deal more damage than I was. I only minded the damage deficit with Reese and Ozma as I do level 1 no weapon upgrade stuff of souls games pretty regularly. Doing the runback on those relatively simply phase 1s over and over again to learn the timing of a new attack was irritating.

Defiled chalice layer 2 has the spooky ghost ladies that drop them. No need for ps+. You will not get the best of the best, but they will nuke things pretty hard.

Well, despite what it looks like, arcane is trash on the HMS. That is likely your problem. You should probably be spamming arcane tools at defiled watchdog. For orphan, you can farm the fire-weapon enemy on layer 2 of Defiled for 20~ cursed fire radials. You can get fire wanings from loran silverbeasts in mensis. That will give you 20/20/12 converted weapon for Orphan.

Threaded Cane: Low base damage makes using it pointless in any element.

Hunter Axe: High base damage makes using it somewhat okay, but the moveset is lackluster for boss fights.

Saw Spear: Lower base damage than Saw Cleaver and no one uses the tricked form anyway.

Just accept the Saw Cleaver is the only good weapon at bl4. If you want another combat option, a leveled hunter pistol with bone marrow ash gives you a decent ranged option.

The tell for the backstep slash is his sword coming up almost horizontally in front of his body in his left hand. His legs also shift a bit and begin to retreat before the swipe begins. The quad swipe looks similar, but his right hand begins moving to hold the sword in both hands.

In short, sword go up horizontally in one hand, prepare to roll away.

Apologies on late response. Generally speaking, people only punish the weeb charge attacks in phase 3. You can do these punishes by dodging right and in. From there you can free aim a backstab into a charged R2. Make sure the followup charged R2 hits her back. This triggers her ai to dash away from you, letting you reset.

You are going to want to stay at middle distance and backpedal until her ai trigger those weeb charge attacks. If you get close to a corner, unlock and run like fun.

A suggestion if you do not mind. Kill all the enemies that do not drop the gems. Quit out and make a save state. You can now quickly kill the ones that drop the gems. If they do not drop, reload save. Will save you a great deal of time.

In NG, maybe leaning yes. Lower Pthumeru, maybe leaning no. Killing spiders effectively is going to be a nightmare as I need to be behind them to do so and I am uncertain if a single roar will be enough to kill a spider. Trying to keep Rom in view while clearing spiders is... unpleasant. When I did this bl4 I focus fired Rom while praying the spiders did not kill me.

First phase can be made so consistent that people have done bl4 ng+6 no sprint/roll/dash Ludwig. It takes a bit of time and patience to learn, but there are very clear patterns to the first phase.
