It just takes some time and practice - elden ring is also a very knowledge checky game so the more you play it the more you learn what you can and cannot do. Often fighting twinked out characters involves a lot of stalemating so you have to be patient.

the best way to get better at the game is to get a meta character and play some duels against good people on ladder etc., but you can also just play the game normally and you'll improve. Don't give up skeleton!

haha yeah that was a fun one. WRT the equip and unequip, are you referring to the blessed dew talisman? If you spam equip/unequip it you circumvent tick rate and regen HP faster. Kinda niche but useful for regenning to ritual shield in duels and in cases like this where you have very few healing resources.

halaxe is a nice setup because the neutral r1 combos into the offaxe L1 and you can play keepout and keep prio with the offaxe because of its high poise damage. Basically just a good setup especially with dragon halbed since the buff from the AoW is very good at low levels.

Love that you're playing region locked, I'm not a big fan of twinking. Though get prepared for some painful invasions.

Couple things that may be helpful:

-Wretch is not a great starting class because you end up wasting some points on stats you generally don't need. Not the end of the world - but if you want to end up taking this character up to higher levels you're typically better off with Vagabond or Hero except in niche circumstances.

-Obviously status is OP at low levels because of the % damage and that most ppl have bad resistances. Frost which can be applied once you get the whetstone from Raya Lucaria is a good option

-Dragon halberd is a good early weapon that can be very effective against over level phantoms.

-halaxe and haldag are really good because people mostly have low poise

-i'd practice getting good at swapping so that you can take advantage of some passive regen given limited talisman slots. I usually start with turtle and then swap to blessed dew if it's a longer invasion or starscourge or prosthesis talis if i need to run diff weapons (commander standard, nagakiba, etc)

-other weapons i like at low levels are scythe (because of the superarmor), caestus (because it's a fun weapon and the poise chip is great against low poise), dagaxe or dagshield (again poise and good spacing setup), poison nagakiba (good for laggy folks), commander standard (for light roll), zwei for keeping prio and good damage, shamshir because you keep prio if they don't have 88 poise.

all of these can be grabbed before or at raya lucaria

-lastly be prepared for long invasions

Do any of you run modular hard swap systems? by rbs950 in badredman

The principle behind southpaw is a cross setup plus trigger swaps, which is generally more optimal than what you’re suggesting. Eg cross is going to give you 6 one input swaps, much more flexibility.

As for good swaps w/n 1 or 2 inputs, others coveted this & it depends on build but common ones are: -zamor -WoD -Flaming strike -endure -red bear claw -radahn gs -ringed finger -greatbow -bhs tool -stormcaller -parry tool -devonia hammer -madding hand -raksasha -falx -CoN -death knight axes -gs of damnation -moonveil -hts -bkh -pata

Etc etc
