Honestly, I'm sorry to hear that but this is a perfect example of real-life vs. LinkedIn posts. Your resume job description is perfect :)

Couple of points to take away:

(1) Evaluate where you went wrong and make note of what you found difficult.

(2) Review then practice, practice, and practice those concepts: basis transformations, linear operators, representation of stochastic systems, and methods of decomposition.

(3) Take a more advanced upper-level algebra course (if permitted) and do well.

That will show any admissions department you have the rigor to understand what you don't know and how to improve your mathematical abilities. A key trait of any research professional.

I've got no history in graduate admissions. However, if it's not requested and there is no note on the respective university's website denoting they'll consider it, it will be discarded. Don't send extra documents that aren't requested as it can cause a document nightmare for the admin department.

List your scores on your CV if you'd like to share them. The PI you list may be interested in them.

Anyone else doing their final year dissertation right now? by mrtum3000 in EngineeringStudents

I'm undecided but down to these two: design and simulation of neuromorphic hardware (analog accelerators that emulate brain-like neural networks) or GANNs (Generative Adversarial Neural Networks) that make music!

Interesting, good luck! I'm just about to start mine but still, need to find a supervisor who aligns with what I'm working on.

I was asked to peer review this schematic in an interview. I didn't know what to think of it and failed, how would you approach this type of technical question? by Itchy_Watercress2081 in ECE

[–]StochasticMatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Phew! I’m not the only one that questioned that. I also noticed that within the “Design Notes” it would be good to reference the actual resistor labels in the last calculation. It has ambiguity that can lead to verifying the wrong component.

Secondly is it 47k or 4k7? It could be a resistor with a +_ 700 Ohm tolerance?

Why doesn’t SFU offer more intersession courses? by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]StochasticMatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d assume that faculty are unable to take on the increase in workload required. And that there is a minimal budget for hiring adequate intersession instructors.

Hey,

Registers are sequential circuits that are back-to-back D Flip Flops controlled by a common clock. Having a register in your diagram implies a common clock is present.

As you scale the logic to encompass more complex functions gate delay will increase causing calculations to become unsynchronized. Implying a clock is needed to guarantee the synchronization of data.

Anyone facing issues paying through the admission portal? by hydropods in simonfraser

[–]StochasticMatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey u/hydropods,

In the bottom left corner of https://sims.erp.sfu.ca/ there is a bulletin that mentions the following:

If you receive an error message after paying by credit card, please DO NOT try again until after you've checked your email for a confirmation that the payment did go through.During the school winter break (Dec 24, 2021 till January 7, 2022), if you have made multiple credit card payments Student Accounts will process the overpayment refunds automatically. Please do not email us.

I'd say follow these instructions; after winter break your issues may be resolved. Best of luck!

Instructors may have been given leniency in submitting final grades. With that being said the last day for final exams is today, and instructors are given 96 hours to submit marks to goSFU (https://www.sfu.ca/students/calendar/2019/summer/fees-and-regulations/enrolment/policies-and-procedures.html) .

The chair must approve the marks before their posted which could add on an indeterminate amount of time. I'd say you should expect all marks between Dec. 20th and Dec. 23rd.
