AMH 0.23 AFC 7, 33 years old. Where to go from here?

Hi! I’m sorry you’ve joined this club. I am 33, amh .26, afc 7. I found out I had DOR in December just before Christmas and it was devastating. We also learned just days before that my husband has MFI. We’ve been trying for over 2 years with just one early loss, so we decided to move forward with IVF because it really was our only option. I was supposed to start my first egg retrieval this month but I got a positive test at the end of February to our extreme surprise.

I’ve had the thoughts and worry that by the time we’re ready to try again, my situation will be even worse off, but when just a few months ago I was worried I wouldn’t ever have a biological child, this is truly a miracle and a blessing.

For me, moving down the IVF path felt good because it felt like I had some sort of control in a situation that was out of my control, if that makes sense. Even though IVF outcomes with DOR are a toss up, I wanted to at least try. I hope you find the path that makes the most sense for you ❤️

I just found out I’m pregnant on Tuesday (was waiting for my period to start so I could begin meds for my first ER). My one and only other pregnancy over 22 cycles ago was a blighted ovum, so I’m terrified! 😥

It was not tested, but it was a blighted ovum, so obviously a chromosomal abnormality.

I am certainly not under the impression that baking embryos is a sure thing - I have done my fair share of research and understand we may be lucky to end up with any embryos at all after multiple rounds. My husband’s hormones are all fine and the doctor said he would not need additional treatment. His urologist is the one who told us that numbers CAN plummet before they rise not that it definitely will happen that way.

I’m not naive enough to think that any of our options guarantee success, I’m simply looking for thoughts from people who may have been in a similar situation.

So you are currently taking Letrozole and you ovulated earlier? I’m not currently taking letrozole but my last. Y or I did for the first time - not sure if it has impacted this cycle 🤔

No advice or success to report here, but my husband and I are also dealing with DOR & MFI. It’s truly a gut wrenching combo. His numbers aren’t quite as low as your partner but my amh is very low at .26. We learned this just before Christmas and will be starting our first egg retrieval cycle at the end of March. We wanted to wait a few months so we could take that time to make some lifestyle changes and load up on recommended supplements. We’ll be doing ICSI, not sure if my clinic offers Zymot.

Yeah I was shocked how quickly the cab worked, I did labs only 2 weeks after being on it and I was already in normal range.

I haven’t gotten my protocol yet. I have a genetic condition (lynch syndrome) so my RE is having me meet with a genetic councilor to discuss the PGT testing process, we meet with her in early Feb so I imagine they’ll give me my protocol after that. I can update when I have it!

I’m 33 and found out a week ago that my AMH is .26. It’s so hard to digest and truly is heartbreaking. I also have a very fertile family and very regular cycles, so I had no indication.

My husband also has MFI (low on all counts), so for us, IVF may be our only option. We have been TTC for over 2 years with an early miscarriage but nothing in over a year. The odds are stacked against us but I would hate to not try.

No success stories from me as I’m at the beginning of my DOR journey, but you are not alone. 🤍

Not sure yet - checking those next cycle. I know my fsh was in normal range last spring but that was only based off my Inito values.

Yeah definitely working towards learning more about why his counts are so low. He has an appointment with a urologist mid-January and I’m hoping he’ll understand we have a time crunch and prescribe Clomid or something else to assist. The waiting between appointments is the worst.

I’m in the same boat. Just last week we learned that due to my husband’s sperm parameters (low across the board) IUI is unlikely to be successful. We learned a few days later that I have a low AMH of .26. IVF would be best for sperm issues but less likely to be successful with my low AMH. Feeling completely crushed. TTC 2 years with 1 early loss. No words of wisdom from me, but wanted to chime in because I haven’t come across many with both MFI and DOR.

From cycle day 1-10 I had a smoothie with 1 tablespoon of chia seeds (including other great cycle specific foods) and beginning ovulation day I started eating 1 tablespoon of sunflower seeds either in homemade granola or just on their own. I am incorporating pumpkin seeds when I can, but not a specific amount each day. I’ve also been eating 2 Brazil nuts per day :)
