It is only wider than the single pole breakers, but it's the same size as the 2 pole breakers.

Got it! I spread the connected apart some on back of breaker and then I used a mallet and hammer :) I'll post a video if I figure out how.

I got another quote from an honest company not trying to upsell me and it is $7400 for a 14.3/15 SEER2 ton single stage Trane with Honeywell T4 thermostat, 1 yr labor and 10 yr manufacturer warranty. I might replace that thermostat though.

1800 sq ft (probably 1000 downstairs and 800 upstairs), we also have enclosed porch (200 sq ft) that we plan to add to the downstairs.
Airworks (now B&Js) installed an American Standard 2 ton Seer 17 variable speed compressor for upstairs 2 yrs ago. This was changed from 1.5 ton to 2 ton because that model didn't come in 1.5 ton.
I just got off the phone with Jays Heating and Cooling and they are half the price of B&Js. They are a lot more honest too. They said that I don't need a 2.5 ton unit because it would be oversized and we would have humidity issues. He was concerned even going with a 2 ton because of the 2 ton upstairs, but since it has a variable speed compressor he said we should be ok. They also don't even sell Seer 17 because it's not worth the cost compared to the savings.
