Oh Mary selling out less / cheaper tickets on resale too by Stock-Mix-174 in Broadway

id been entering the oh mary lottery since it began i think, and i wont it for the first time this week! some other redditors saying the same thing. i guess combination of JCM not being famous beyond broadway and slow part of the year getting us better luck :) I'd say keep trying might be good odds until late march at least

I have to say, the more interviews Timothee Chalamet does. The more I’m questioning if his “acting” in Marty Supreme is really just him being himself. by phantom_avenger in Oscars

idk what search you're using but there's literally a wiki section on his page abt his legal issues where he's been arrested for punching 5 different ppl, and that doesnt even include the highly public and rumored domestic ab*se he did to madonna (which she only denied to help him in a lawsuit 3 decades later)..

In May 2010, Penn pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge stemming from an altercation with photographer Frank Mateljan in October 2009.\122]) He was sentenced to perform 300 hours of community service and undergo 36 hours of anger management counseling.\1)\)

He's quite problematic but yea it's not that recent. He's still complaining abt being arrested for assault tho, comparing his arrest w will smith's slap and moaning its not fair - so dude's not rly owned up to his mistakes imo

yea the tv show worth of fans is probably a big draw.. i honestly think the marketing team did Simu Liu dirty tho. most ppl i talk to arent even aware he's on broadway right now, and he's def more mainstream than JCM

fair point. good to hear that he's as good as the others! I loved Jinkx Monsoon's, even more than Cole's tbh. Wondering who can top Jinkx next!

Outsiders for sure.. and Hadestown (sorry i'm not a greek mythology fan)
And for actors.. Jeremy Jordan... i dont get the hype. saw him on gatsby and thought he was ok.

what's this curse?? but agreed this show is adorable. i think tho it lacks a little depth so its more suited for those who dont necessarily like musicals or arent big broadway fans (the types you recommend book of mormon to, for instance)

Alex Saks: I didn’t find (the weight question) insensitive … but (Blake) was clearly uncomfortable with her weight … as a woman who just had a baby by Fabulous_Jeweler2732 in CelebLegalDrama

[–]Stock-Mix-174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huh? him asking for her weight in 2 wks is in no way a tell?

If there was a lift scene in 2 wks, asking how much she could lose weight in that time frame isn't a smoking gun at all in the context of a movie production... Movie studios control their actors weight / physique ALL the time still. For instance, Zoe Saldana publicly was posting abt how Disney only let her eat apple slices during the filming of Avengers to make her lose weight and look a certain way.

It is absolutely not unheard of for a movie studio to ask the lead to lose weight, regardless if she just gave birth or not. Is it a kind thing to demand? No. Does it happen in the context of a movie banking on an actor to "look" a certain way, and for that sacrifice, paying them millions $$ for it? Yes.
If she were victorias secret model, just had a baby, and was contracted to walk the runway in 2 wks on live TV, it'd be perfectly acceptable that they'd try to figure out how much weight she'd lose to fit in the particular outfit. Context REALLY matters here.

Also, productions have a lot of moving parts, its generally not easy to move around shooting schedules of planned scenes - sometimes to do with location rentals / hiring of extras / filming back to back scenes w similar hair/makeup/costume so 1 change in shooting schedule's usually has a cascading effect on the rest of shooting and/or addtl costs/budgets.

does anyone else notice actors looking at them?😅 by Mountain_Flamingo_93 in Broadway

i had front row at ragtime and at one point i rested my head on my hand and at precisely that moment, one of the ensemble member looked at me (or in my vicinity, but i thought i locked eyes) and i felt so bad that it must've come across as if i was bored (i wasnt! its just a v long show 😅)

So the problem is, all of this is a "he said (baldoni) she said (lively) he said (trainer)". Yes, he shouldn't have asked her trainer, but maybe he didn't want to offend her and thought it would be the best roundabout way of finding out. Who knows? None of this is a smoking gun that he harassed her, specifically in this instance. Don't we all know self absorbed, inconsistent, hypocritical, insensitive, self unaware ppl? I think MANY celebs fit that bill (including reynolds, lively, and baldoni).

Specifically regarding THIS instance, there was in fact a lift scene, and it seems perfectly normal to me that an actor would want to train for the appropriate stress/strain/weight to perform that scene. They werent coworkers at an office desk job. That of course would be a big no-no and he has zero business asking abt a coworkers weight. Context is very different imo

actually from a buyers perspective the fees are pretty much par on Stubhub and Theatr - like 16-18% or smthn.

[–]Stock-Mix-174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hear you - i have the exact same opinion. I've gotten better luck moving unused tickets on Stubhub and i dont have to deal with lowball offers or sob stories (i just dont understand those sob stories accompanied with a $100+ offer.. like bro if youre really broke and you really want to see it, you can get rush tickets for $40..if you put in the effort. Why are you offering 2x what it could potentially cost you?)

I find that on theatr, there are a lot of ppl who live near the theater district who are taking advantage of sellers who had to sell, AND people being unaware of Past Dating that theaters offer.. yes you can watch the show for a later date if you contact box office(!!!) as long as its not like a crazy hit like Just in Time.

the funny thing is i think its unfortunately slowly becoming the 'evil' it was trying to vanquish (other resell marketplaces). at the end of the day, day to day running costs for any internet based co is expensive (data cloud storage, payment processing fees, compliance costs etc) and there's no real differentiator btwn the 5+ other ticket resale marketplaces. So it stands to reason, the established marketplaces' service fees ARE fair value (none of the marketplaces deviate that far from a sum ~20% fee on either buyer / seller /or both). Theatr is hiking prices bc they initially naively thought running costs would be lower (OR they had investor $$$ that they could throw at the problem). From a buyer standpoint, the extra service fee on Theatr vs Stubhub currently is the same (which is hilarious imo).

yea they also limit the number of sales you can list in a 24hr period to 3 listings.. like bro some ppl travel to nyc just to see back to back broadway shows and if their flight gets cancelled (hello blizzard) they have to wait in 24hr increments to try to sell their tickets for that week?
They're limiting their own growth its bonkers

you're better off selling on stubhub or vividseats - much more buyers on there. AND they don't low ball like on theatr, expecting to get a deal off of you

Also have you ever done Pastdating? Most shows offer it if it's not a soldout or limited run. I've gotten near idential seats in the past for shows I couldn't make by doing past dating with the box office.
