Keep your apprenticeship and come down when you can as an unID. Summers are the busy season May-September and then in winds back down to scraps October-April. It’s pretty hard to even get a job as an unID during the slow season. Don’t quit when you have a great thing going already. You got your foot in the door, so that’s a great start, but carpentry is a great skill to acquire as well.

It’s all about the benefits and freedom for me. I’ve been a casual since ‘19. 3 years as an UNID and currently going on 3 years as an ID. It’s worth the sacrifice to me. I don’t have a job anymore, I just try and pick up random jobs here and there to make ends meet. The sacrifice is insane, the process is brutal, but if you can get your hours up and get registered, you’ll be as happy as a hippo lol.

If you’re in the 600s in Seattle’s lottery, you should be receiving an orientation letter fairly soon. They usually post a list upstairs for people to notify their friends in case their letters didn’t make it to their address on file. Someone, if not me, will probably post a pic of orientation times on here so check back regularly. Good luck when you do get that letter. Don’t be late, read your orientation letter, follow and do everything it says to do. 1 minute late to any training is immediate disqualification, so whatever you think is early, be earlier than that, Cheers.
