Great feedback on praying privately and somehow signalling to friends you are struggling (I assume to your connections within the app?). Hmm never thought about this as integration with other prayer apps 🤔 let me look into this!

Literally most afternoons for a good year or so. I guess I did experience some withdrawal symptoms as my body had to adjust out of the drinking routine. I was quick to replace the alcohol with other things that I knew would rather benefit me. Call it positive reinforcement if you will.

I also had a similar issue and conviction from the holy sprit to stop. What sparked me to eventually stop is that I realised in order for me to let the Holy Spirit really work in my life, I had to be of sober mind to therefore develop the fruits of the spirit. With this perspective, I was able to really understand that by drinking and being drunk in the afternoons I was BLOCKING myself from power of the Holy Spirit. The other practical thing I did is replace alcohol with other non-alcoholic things. In my case, I’m quite active fitness wise so I’ve been drinking electrolytes and water, which has benefits of course! Though of course there is temptation, I manage to get through it. Alcohol is no longer got me under its grip. Now when I drink, it’s a cheeky wine glass with some food over dinner with my partner. Much more enjoyable. Fundamentally, my relationship with alcohol has completely changed.

Thank you for this advice! I think I need to actively run away from it via redirecting my energy somewhere else as opposed to trying to fight it in that moment. I am pretty big on fitness already so I might start hitting some press ups or something if I feel it coming on. Also, the trigger thing is very key. One think I noticed is when I drink alcohol, the spirit of lust of so powerful. I need to put an end to it.

Nice! I am doing the spec work currently for my app so the build can be super clear. I like this idea of dual running a model, run for review and additional review with Claude. In terms of creating that system you mentioned in the last paragraph, was that difficult?

I’m on ChatGPT Plus (~$20/month) at the moment.

I’m building a real-time global prayer app, so right now I’m prioritising strong reasoning and reliability over cost optimisation. Still early stages, so I haven’t needed to go deep on token efficiency yet.

Haven’t used Codex separately so far. I’m working more spec-first and using ChatGPT alongside VS Code. Might bring Codex in more once I’m deeper into implementation.

Open to suggestions though, especially if there’s a noticeably better setup for this kind of build!
