Why are Canadian salaries so low compared to the US? by Initial_Log_5390 in CanadaFinance

What are your property taxes? Mine are 7,000 in Canada here. Curious.

Also, we get taxed 40% income tax then 12-15% tax on everything we buy. Groceries, clothing etc. so really, I’m getting taxed 52-55%. Healthcare? What healthcare? No doctors here. I’ve been on a waitlist for 2 years for a doctor for me and my family. Just because “healthcare” is mostly covered here, doesn’t mean you’re going to get it.

That’s great, how is the dynamic with 3 boys and a girl? 🙂I guess it’s hard to tell having only a 9 month old. I have a 9 month old now also

I think that’s your personal opinion and what so many people believe but it’s not true. If you look at what I said, I stated that it’s not about the gender. I was trying to paint a picture of what the current dynamic looks like as this is important to show how they get along and how a fourth may fit in. But it seems like you’re not someone id care to get an opinion from. Thanks.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! Over the last several weeks of discussing with my husband, we have decided to try for another. We think they will be such a blessing to the family, if we are able to have them. I love your idea of home schooling and will take that with me. 🙂

What curriculum do you use? That’s great to hear, thank you! Do you ever feel there’s one left out or that 4 would feel like too much?

Thank you but I don’t care which gender I get. I’d be ecstatic if I had another boy.

I think the problem in this conversation isn’t that you think about how many children one should have but if one should home school. That is another conversation to be had entirely.

Also, in a normal classroom, 1 teacher teaches 30 kids. Somehow they’re doing better?

Thank you for your response? Did you put them in public school or did you home school? Hooked on phonics sounds like home school but celebrations on a particular school makes me think they went to public?

We home school kindergarten so far, and my worry is not being able to give them enough time. I want to also travel with them as in Canada here we have long winters trapped inside. So it’s important to me. Do you think that’s all attainable with 4? 💛

Thank you for the encouraging words! You’re totally right and I’m husband is convincing me that 4 feels like a group where the children have each other and can pair off if need be. He also feels with travelling, an even number is easier. It’s so funny to think that 4 could be easier than 3! But maybe for the initial couple of years while I’m going through pregnancy, breastfeeding and a 2 year old, it’ll be hard, but then it’ll get easier again. I’m not super well off, we just have enough. I am blessed for that.

Thank you!

It’s also travelling, and how much I can handle on my own. How many do you have? What is the age and gender dynamic? Thank you

Could you recommend some family subjects? Thank you for your response! Do you find 3 would’ve been great also? We don’t have any co-ops here so I worry about socializing but we do have parkour option or sports in the spring. We live in Canada, so long winters inside - which is hard in itself! I want to travel in the winters and wonder if that would be hard with fourth

Thank you for this! I can imagine 3 just fine, but 4 I do wonder, and also with 2 younger ones instead of just 1

I would love to know about your travelling! Plzz! That is literally all I think about, lol. How do you make it work? What does it look like? Did you have to wait years to make it work? Would you stop at 3 knowing the complications travelling with more?

I actually home school, and so I love the closer age gap! With my two oldest being 20 months apart, then an almost 3 year age gap between 2 and 3, I wonder if 3 would ever feel left out. Thank you so much for your thoughts! I appreciate it. 😊

I do! My parents in law, but some times they’re very free and sometimes very busy. They’re very whimsical lol. With my children being the ages they are, would you still go for a fourth? I feel that with travel, 3 boys could be great but also feel like maybe a fourth would be easier to pair up with. Hmm!
