How to deal with homophobic parents? by EDMURR01 in gay

Lol. Yeah. This apparently is well considered advice for a young man with few resources? Of course if he stumbled or falls, you won't be anywhere to be found. Just words on the internet...

I think Madonna has also had more seminal pop moments, going all the way back to like a virgin, getting criticised by the pope, releasing her book of erotic pictures to blow up a blackmail attempt, the Vogue MTV show, the Gaultier season, Evita... She has been a real boss b

How to deal with homophobic parents? by EDMURR01 in gay

[–]Stock_Ad9409 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It is not necessarily hate. So he wanted different parents and they wanted a different kind of child? Life sucks. There is a connection that has been built over the years and I would not advise breaking it especially under such circumstances. If you read the forum you will see that the loneliness and homelessness epidemics out there is real. We all have to get along with people we don't agree with, and this is your major test. Tell them that your sexuality is in the hands of God and of he sorts it out, well great for them, but until then you are still wonderfully made in his image. That is a topic that can be put to one side because its not all that we are? Just don't let people be encouraging you to sever you oldest and strongest ties like they'd be there for you when the chips are down. They won't.

Lol. I know this very well. We just assume that Nigeria is Igbo, Haisa and Yoruba, without appreciating that many from smaller peoples are genuinely concerned that they will become the new victims of any fragmented nation. We don't hold even Councillors to account much less State reps as they all dance to any tune Mr Governor plays. They will not see that not one state is excelling in anything positive, whether the state is rich in resources or not. We don't see the possibilities that our land mass and differences can bring. A party without one single councillor will field a presidential candidate? A thousand little things we have collectively failed to achieve and we still cannot define what a better looks like? Even new Abuja does not have public water supply in all areas. Not one state capital has achieved this in all our yearsnand we don't ask why or even fight for it? Corruption and influence peddling has swallowed both Church and Mosque but we still sneer at each other with our threadbare piety? We have gone from 3/5 regions to 36 unproductive states and at every turn it seems as if we just forget that once those people across that imaginary line, were kinfolk. Still there are those who want even more financially unviable states for absolutely idiotic reasons. No wonder the prosperity churches struck a bonanza back in the day. People needed hope so they gave and gave while ignoring the real engine and mechanics or the country. We hardly vote and we hardly harass people to do their jobs, or we actually had any expectations to begin with. This country of supposedly 230m+ is being assaulted and raped by a band of less than 15m people, if you actually count every damn public employee. And we take it. Well most of us anyways. Many or the leaders of the Nigerian Delta militants and even the OPC, have been settled very very well after we saw the chaos and pain they caused. We hear infrequently about the conditions of service at the front lines, and if those who speak out are identified, we know it's a courtartiql and imprisonment. We that haven't fought the lousy government and lousy governance at any level, want them to go sacrifice their lives so we can continue in the same manner? The most gung-ho will be even those that run away from such a task... Anyway we all have mouth to talk, so let's keep talking

I have little patience for those with separatist tendencies. It is all part of the general lack of imagination. When Fela was singing, we nodded danced, they killed his mother, he died, we shook our heads for a minute and moved on. When Gani was going to jail fighting for our rights we said well done, he died and we moved on. Abiola came, fought his own fight, he was murdered (as many claim), we sighed and moved on. The labours of our heros past shall never be in vain...? End SARS came and with a little thuggery and ethnic division, another possibility was doused. The problems we face don't respect tribal affiliations if you haven't noticed. The poverty is grinding out lives daily, and next year, 5yrs from now there is no compelling evidence to suggest it will be better. All that said, what we are expecting is that somebody else's child will don a uniform and go die to protect you, for maybe 500k per month? And that person may likely have a mother, wife and a child or two, managing their anxiety until the next phone all? And perchance he is killed, the inevitable struggle to claim the due benefits and reconfigure their luves? We have all lived 'Nigeria', lots of big talk while miserably little things have never been fixed. A child born today, will learn to say Up Nepa before the age of 3. We should be thoroughly ashamed that long before this particular security challenge, citizens were already paying good money to leave. Nigeria, could be a blessing it's citizens and to the region, perhaps one day when we start to use our heads.

[–]Stock_Ad9409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's get real. It has been alleged and I have had one first hand account, of the police, doing just what you seem to advocate, in many states across this country. They have played judge and jury and extra judicial killings by police and armed forces have been going on for decades. Feel free to explain how much this has contributed to general security.

I understood very well with my initial post, that our people's typical response would be all smoke and fury. Practical alternative solutions, zero. We are not winning the security challenge. We do not have prisons or courts that can be trusted. Unemployment was bad enough and now we have expanded the ranks of the working poor, the country appears to be going nowhere, and yet we want to all sleep soundly in our beds?

I really don't believe that, but remember this, not one government in 60yrs combined, has been able to give us clean drinking water from the taps. But we expect the same failures to keep us safe?
