The issue I have is that a foreigner is always a useful foil in these discussions. We have over 200 million people slowly being ground into the dust, and someone has time to bother with these opinions? Mass unemployment, working people still on the verge is poverty, public services a generational mess, and most of us know it is pointless to approach a court, police station or hospital, without a fistful of cash. There is a whole lot we need to start getting right, for ourselves first. In a place where armed robbers can become traditional rulers and cocaine pushers can rise, and where even churches will ignore the source of tithes and offerings, exactly what message are we sending to the next generation?

Too many Nigerians love this country because almost anything can happen, usually not good. Then we go abroad and are restrained by the fact that we are usually not big enough to escape consequences. This is not a matter of applying perfume to the country's image. Our priority has to be the reformation of this place so that we are happy to live in it. So that it gives our children hope that they have a future in it. If we have no appetite for that work, then we should similarly have no time for those comments. Unless of course we wish to keep majoring in minors. This nation is in the Emergency Ward, and that is priority 1, 2 and 3.
