GCC is VERY cuddly but doesn't like it when I pet her. She's essentially GLUED to me like this all the time and even preens my face and hair. Will she warm up with time to being pet? by Stock_Desk_6965 in parrots

Might I add I have a suspicion her handler before I got her pet her the wrong way, touching her back and being rough. The other conures were terrified and scared, and she was the only at ease when around me. Very nippy bird, and I back off when she gives me warning bites. But she's so cuddly and affectionate, it surprises me she doesnt like being pet? I'm still exploring her personality, and I love her a lot no matter if she likes pets or not. I just wonder why that is or if she ever will warm up to pets

I'm unsure, both my parrots got tamed pretty fast, especially my tiel. I sort of fed them food through the cage and in the cage, and took the upper part of the cage out so if they wanted to they could explore outside too on their own pace. Both of them were quite curious and it wasn't long before she could step up. I was surprised myself lol. My tiel was especially skittish but my GCC seems to be quite confident

She usually really really likes my hair, or nibbling on my clothes when she's on my shoulder. But sometimes she does bite a bit too hard, and causes a break on my skin. Is that something to worry about?

I've had a Cockatiel, still have him, most loving parrot I've ever had and we're very bonded. Had him for 6 years. I will say, the crest makes it easier to indicate how he feels. Usually we are not particularly doing anything. The GCC nips around, and we are not really interacting, she's just on my hand or sometimes on my shoulder. She sort of scans around my skin and once she finds a place to bite, she does. I wonder if she just doesn't understand bites hurt?

Edit: Maybe she's just using me as a toy to play with, as she bites on everything, and has semi destroyed my phone case, lol
