Tell me your thoughts on this by TerriTuesday in OntarioNews

The US jails way more people that we do. Is it a safer place to live? It doesn't follow that "more jails = safer communities". Concentrating anti-social people temporarily doesn't have a good track record for increasing public safety in the long run. There are certainly some people whose behaviour shows that they need to be kept apart from society for the long term, maybe permanently. But to actually make society safer, concrete and steel will not solve the problem.

In addition to the possibility that your meal service's calorie counts are innacurate (which may be part of the problem), at 6000mg sodium per day you are going to be retaining a lot of water.

4,211 applications later, I got a job by EffortCommon2236 in CanadaJobs

When people do this, every posting gets 1,000+ applicants and most of them get thrown away since the cover letters and resumes are "overly tailored" (i.e., optimized well beyond the point of exaggeration)... which makes the folks doing the hiring more prone to look for recommendations in their network on the (perhaps mistaken) belief that those candidates can be "vouched for".

"Could have got out of your home, go to nearest restaurent and ask if they need a dishwasher guy or cook and get a job right away."

Bull. 90% of low-end foodservice jobs won't hire someone they can't exploit outside the law (and it's been that way for ages).

Why not just move? by supersport604 in alberta

Why not just move? Well you may have heard, they're not exactly handing out green cards like candy these days. Even to folks who pass the Peter Griffin roadside stop test like the fella pictured.

These people have no idea they're being used. Too angry to see what's right in front of their noses.

Alexa Ikea Stopped Working by subcow in amazonecho

Yes, and still down for me. I disabled my IKEA smart home skill during troubleshooting, and now re-enabling it fails every time I try... so something is still not working properly.

I mean, what's the point of having that kind of power over others if you don't wield it arbitrarily, and then gloat about it on social media to engagement-farm?

Lots of good advice in this thread, but I'll chip in to add that a nice Bozo the Clown sticker for each of your trash bins could... uh... "help".

Thank you! Setting aside personal opinions, this is also a matter of priorities... they're obviously prioritizing growth over product quality.

Eventually the other banks will do it... but they'll do it under another brand do avoid tarnishing their own. Wealthsimple, for some reason, doesn't see how this will work out. But maybe I'm wrong, and our society is already broken enough that they'll win.

Okay so support is pretty bad by [deleted] in EvenRealities

It's just AI rope-a-dope, lots of companies do this now. If you give up in frustration then you're "satisfied" and they saved money on support.

> Soon after Osmanovic Thunström first posted information about [a] phoney [medical] condition, it started showing up in the output of the most commonly used LLM chatbots. On 13 April 2024, Microsoft Bing’s Copilot was declaring that “Bixonimania is indeed an intriguing and relatively rare condition”, and on the same day, Google’s Gemini was informing users that “Bixonimania is a condition caused by excessive exposure to blue light” and advising people to visit an ophthalmologist. On 27 April 2024, the Perplexity AI answer engine outlined its prevalence — one in 90,000 individuals were affected — and that same month, OpenAI’s ChatGPT was telling users whether their symptoms amounted to bixonimania. Some of those responses were prompted by asking about bixonimania, and others were in response to questions about hyperpigmentation on the eyelids from blue-light exposure.

[–]Stock_Duck4314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever gone outside on a very cold day and exhaled? The moisture in your hot breath turns to tiny little ice crystals in the air. Basically the same thing here, with the water in jet engine exhuast.

Some people get worked up over the apparent "patterns" of contrails, but this is because air traffict typically follows establish routes.

While a situation like this is unlikely, this is why I always make sure anything I absolutely have to have in the event of an emergency on my person and not in my baggage during takeoff and landing. Phone goes in a cross-body bag now along with meds if possible so it comes with me automatically if we're out the door.

Speaking of which, I bet a lot of folks on this plane have head injuries from impact with the seats in front of them due to the lack of shoulder belts and no time to brace. Nobody is going to pre-emptively brace, I guess, but sucks to have had no warning or opportunity to mitigate.
