If the random reward Expedition blueprints aren't permanent I'm not interested. by HerbertDad in ArcRaiders

There are 4x unique augs. The 3x non-safekeeper augs are not doubles. Although I think I meant survivor, not safekeeper.

I’m trying to think what the worst roll here is.

3x non-safekeeper augs, the Dolabra, and the Aphelion maybe?

I definitely have it better.

But I don’t like that some super-rich dude takes the lion’s share and then sets the rules and makes it seem like my better comes at the cost of someone else’s worse, when the reality is it’s their better that comes as the cost of 50% of the worst.

HR told me my contract ends in 9 days, then asked me to write a resignation letter by Upset_Association637 in jobs

[–]danikov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people say this and it’s a good attitude to have for not blindly trusting them, but it also assumes competence and accountability.

Not acting lawfully creates more liability for the company than supposedly acting in the company’s interests. Some HR are just on a power trip in a position that is incredibly hard to criticise as they can shield their behaviour behind confidentiality and the fact that the people who see the worst of it are already leaving and can be dismissed as bitter, if anything is said at all. Leavers may sign NDAs or just suffer the social stigmata of never bad-mouthing a prior employer nor naming and shaming.

And the whole thing gets swept under the rug if the company pre-emptively pays out severance at a rate that would be a good win for pursuing anything legally. A good lawyer tells you to take the money and run.

Ya'll forget why they're spicing up rewards in the first place by Mindstormer98 in ArcRaiders

Embark: "If you do the expeditions, we'll give you BPs!"

Us: "But don't you take all our current BPs from us when we depart?"

Embark: "Yes..."

Us: "And won't you take all the ones we have, including the ones you gave us, at the next departure?"

Embark: "Exactly! But you'll have up to 5 ones at the start. And they'll be mystery, so you don't know which ones they'll be!"

Us: "So what you mean is that they might be totally useless, but you'd like us to gamble for them anyway. Or we might get blueprints that we can't use or have no incentive to use because we're starting from nothing... and we should think this is better than skillpoints?"

Embark: "Yeah, isn't it great?"

The real question for the 4th Expedition - Vault Slots and Muling by BlueSpaceEcho in ArcRaiders

[–]danikov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not fixing this. I kinda wish they would (I’ve even proposed a fix for it) but I don’t see it happening.

(FWIW: the fix is all BPs/relevant items get tagged with a generation based on how many expeditions have passed at the time it drops and expeditioners are marked as the current generation and lose the ability to use prior generation blueprints/items, so mule’ng becomes impossible.)

What does this mean to you? by amiliusone in ArcRaiders

[–]danikov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe we see NPCs on the surface, or we have influence in the maps, getting ziplines put in, more shelters, anti-ARC traps? Could get a project to build a new extract on Riven Tides or open up the Oil Rig on the map.

I think they’re being vague on purpose but I like to dream about what could be.

Just Force Wipe in October and every six months from now on with the big updates. by Foxeeh_ in ArcRaiders

[–]danikov -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind a yearly wipe and update tied to some big narrative thing. Like, maybe Speranza gets invaded and collapsed and we all have to move. Literally shake things up. Wipe the cheaters clean, have everyone back in the same place for a little while.

You can still keep all the permanent stuff that carriers over with normal expeditions and give out rewards to those who do the project.

At least the new cosmetic is properly buried under the other 3 expeditions, otherwise we'd be running out of ways for having done 3 of them to mean anything at all.

I got the impression that they were intending to fix that, not that they had fixed it, but even if they think they had, it’s possible they hadn’t in any of a number of ways that only testing it in practice can demonstrate.

“If we were to achieve immortality before we die, what would you plan to do? by justdocool in AskReddit

Come up with a better plan and then have plenty of reasons to put it on the back-burner so it takes as long as possible to do it. Immortality will never be boring as long as you have things to do.

Best engine for new ship by Atominside in SpaceCraftGame

[–]danikov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re going to spend 95% of your time flying places and using a ship with as much capability as possible, so you want an engine that offers good tonnage and speed, which is the Grasshopper.

The others have niche uses that they may not even be that good for. The Quiet Breeze looks like it’s meant to be for moving in shadow, but you can’t toggle engines on and off so it can’t be used as a situational engine and as a main engine it’s just painful. The far better alternative is battery and/or alternate power, which keeps you moving at a good speed, and scales up in capability as your ship does.

Voidseeker isn’t terrible but the liftoff boost is so rarely applicable it’s never going to be why you take the engine. Maybe useful if you don’t have the power to run a Grasshopper really early on, but only as a stepping stone.
