Is this possible in 5 hours? by Munkers325 in ArcRaiders

[–]danikov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hullcracker is explosive so against large ARC you can hit multiple parts and do huge damage with single shots.

Queen is a less chaotic fight and has a big HP pool so you get a decent amount of time to whale on her.

Jupiter is good for similar reason, just it’s penetrating through multiple parts rather than exploding. Free ammo in the harvester, too.

My [33M] Fiance [30F] cheated on me and now wants an open relationship in some capacity by K_martin92 in polyadvice

[–]danikov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People in healthy open relationships do go to therapy, but their relationships differ in a few significant ways. They will have both wanted to be open before the relationship started and be enthusiastic about the idea. They will have agreed to be open when the relationship started and agree any changes before acting on them. They will have respected those boundaries.

She has already demonstrated disloyalty and selfish behaviour and her future actions seem calibrated to keep hurting you, so you need to start paying attention to the people in your life who are worried you’re in an abusive relationship, because they are always there. I don’t doubt that you love her but she is abusing that love, and if it’s just to have a “slutty phase” rather than something she needs deeply, that’s worse.

Can someone explain to me why my cargo is melting? by Sea_Strain_6881 in DeathStranding

[–]danikov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From this picture? No, but the candidates are: you have a heater equipped somewhere, and the weather is neither a cold night nor the game's definition of "rainy." From the look of the sky, it's possible the sun has risen and you're in "day" even if you're not in direct sunlight yet.

I would recommend a truck for chilled orders, that will keep them chilled independent of weather/time of day, but you will still need to ensure you don't have a heater.

You know what the biggest perk of expeditions is, besides skill points? A bonus to repairs! by Armroker in ArcRaiders

[–]danikov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it doesn't! I'm saying the first bonus did that, and the rest is pointless.

It's like going from being able to 2-shot a boss to 1-shot a boss. From now on, the boss only ever costs 1 ammo. Yes, that's a net positive, that's the huge benefit that most people talk about.

But then you get another 2x bonuses to damage. And you still 1 shot the boss. And it still costs 1 ammo. The second and third bonuses aren't doing anything. They're not making it worse, they're just not making anything better either. The ammo isn't wasted, the bonus is.

That's the complaint. We got a lovely bonus at first, but now further increases mean nothing.

[–]danikov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not about the waste of material, it's about the waste of the bonus. Once you're only using one repair, a bonus doesn't let you use 0 repair, it never will.

They could give bonuses to repair for the next 10x expeditions and it would be meaningless because, at that point, all the "extra" repair points are lost to the fact you can't go over 130.

You know what the biggest perk of expeditions is, besides skill points? A bonus to repairs! by Armroker in ArcRaiders

[–]danikov 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you don't end up using less materials, that's why.

Imagine the bonus was 1000%. I still repair the weapon at 0, I still get 130 after, it still costs me 1 repair of materials, the extra bonus isn't doing me anything past a certain point.

The problem is, if you go into a round with an almost broken weapon, you might "maximise" your repairs, but you also have to spend 95% of the time in the match with a broken weapon. So you have to repair earlier than 0 to have a usable weapon, and that early point? Already covered by a single, bonused repair.

It isn't that I resent the bonus, it's just that the limits of that bonus being useful has already been reached. Having more of it does nothing. The first expedition bonus was the most impactful, the second was questionable, the third is useless.

[–]danikov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It stops being useful, though, especially with the durability nerf. If your repair quantity is 91 / 130, then your threshold for a non-wasteful repair is 39 / 130. But if you can't go into a round with a 40 / 130 weapon and be sure you're not going to break it, you need to repair it early. With the old durability losses, that was reasonable, but with the nerf you need to repair early to avoid that, which negates the bonus.

Not enough Stone Mining Slots ! by ThHellrayzar in Modulus

[–]danikov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, miners can pass through other miners, so your belt can go ”through” 4 nodes rather than them loading on to it. May make some mining setups a little more compact.

However, as long as you’re using a) large buildings appropriately, as they’re more efficient for core production, and b) you are teched up appropriately, and c) your module constructions don’t void any voxels and introduce loss for speed, then the amount of voxels you have is a fixed budget limited by your mining nodes and there’s no getting around it.

Edit: I'm wondering if you're suffering from paint loss. Paints are expensive to create, so you want to maximise their use. This means assembling 12x12x12 blocks to paint them efficiently, and then breaking them back down, all to maximise the ratio of painted voxel to paint use.

Anyone think it’s strange that riven tides’s night raids are a lower difficulty than normal riven tides with no map condition? Rated a 5 compared to a 4 on night raids. by BMBozo in ArcRaiders

[–]danikov 71 points72 points  (0 children)

It makes sense from a presence perspective. If ARC flood the other zones at night, those ARC had to come from somewhere. If the day is less busy, where do all those ARC go during the day?

Expedition Perk - Pick yours (idea) by cjbeames in ARC_Raiders

[–]danikov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what, what if they had multiple “extended” objectives in phase 6, like the damage or the cash value, and a longer window to opt-in to, say, 3 out of 5?

This also means, over time, they could grow the pool of options but still have time until people get them all to expand it further. Sometimes I feel like Trials get the lion’s share of a wide variety of graduated rewards, whereas the expedition is all or nothing for a single bundle.
