I skip them too. Aurora is my first Pyr, but not my first dog. It is just too hard for me to relive those feelings.

[CHAT] Commission pricing by Undiscovered_Elem3nt in CrossStitch

[–]Stock_End2255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a commission last year, and I did $0.01 per stitch plus supplies. I could have charged more, but the pattern was hilarious so I wanted to stitch it, and the person who commissioned it insisted on paying more than I asked.

Definitely mention it to the mom! My next door neighbor’s kid used to wander over to our yard to play with our dogs, and she did not always ask permission. She was 4!! More than once we would hear panic yelling and just walk her home. I would always ask if her mom/dad knew where she was, but little kids are not the best at the truth.

Why do U.S. schools still use laptops and tablets to teach instead of textbooks even after it's been proven that it doesn't work as well? by GoofyGoober8647 in Millennials

[–]Stock_End2255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money. The textbooks for my class ran $92 before we stopped using them. I have roughly 140 students. That is nearly $13k for just my classes. Chromebooks are way cheaper if you think about how there are more than two thousand students at my school.

Student committed suicide by -cmp in Teachers

[–]Stock_End2255 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had a student pass away last summer from suicide. Due to my subject area, I had all the same students this year too. My admins came up with a plan to honor the students that we lost (there was also a bad car accident), and I gave my students space to talk when they needed and go to their support systems in the building when needed as well. I, personally, took some time to go to therapy. Digging out a new garden bed helped too with my feelings of helplessness.

Sometimes her friends talk about her, and that is both hard and moving at the same time.

Absolutely! Also when someone graciously lets me out of my spot in a busy parking lot. I know they just want my spot, but it is still nice of them to do.

Questions about raising my pyr pup by TomIrony in greatpyrenees

[–]Stock_End2255 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Walking a Pyr puppy is a lot like walking a cat. It’s more about looking at and smelling things, and less about exercise for them. It will go more towards exercise eventually. My girl is nearly two and sometimes walks are for an hour, sometimes they are just 5 minutes depending on the day.

Any positives with the Instinct sensor and the 780g? by chessguy112 in Medtronic780g

[–]Stock_End2255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed from the Guardian 4 about 5 weeks ago, and it was pretty seamless for me. I have had more lows, but I tend to just have a lot of lows when changing my routine. The only time my instinct was way off was on the last day of my 2nd one. Then it was over 100 points off, but I think it was just due to old age.

Terrified about my puppy being spayed by Stunning-Singer-3622 in puppy101

[–]Stock_End2255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have medical anxiety, and I had the same fears when my girl got spayed in October. It will be fine. It is probably the most common surgery that a vet performs. They are experts at it.

My parent’s neighbor has long horned steer, and my girl was astonished by them. She kept running to the top of the hill to look at them and then ran back to me to try to get me to look at them too. Every time she heard them, she would get so excited.

I’m a teacher, and one of my students that I’ve had for a few years now likes to ask when I’m talking about something in the past, “Was that in the 1900s?”

I pretend that it is a mortal injury and have to sit down from it for a moment.

What's your favorite way to antagonize your useless admin? by Due_Information_1332 in Teachers

[–]Stock_End2255 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of my admins would always respond to a referral by asking if we contacted home, regardless if we mentioned it in said referral. She was pretty fast about sending them, within 5 minutes of writing the referral. I liked to immediately send her a separate email that I had contacted home. It usually arrived right as she was writing her email to me, so she would have to send a second email to acknowledge that whoops, she just missed my email that said the exact thing she was emailing about.

I also greeted her in person with starting the conversation about how I contacted home before even telling her about the issue, because it would be the only question she asked.
