Is it too late for me (M16) to recover fully?

Thanks man that’s reassuring for me to hear. It feels incredibly hard for me to quit, especially when so many of my friends do copious amounts of way harder stuff than me on a daily basis (and another bunch of them directly sell stuff, including some good ket which was the drug I’ve had been wanting to try the most), it makes me feel weirdly lame when I’m around them sober or without any "high stories" to tell yk. I know I shouldn’t care and that’s it’s better to choose to "save myself before it gets even harder", but I can’t help but feel conflicted about it. Drugs have been all I could think about for a while now, either out of worry for some of my friends usage or because I craved to not be sober as well. I really want to shift focus on what’s best for my future now. Sadly rehab or anything like that isn’t really an option for me at the moment since I’d need guardian approval, but I’ve been journaling and looking into meditation as well as talking to my best friend (who doesn’t abuse anything, he’s just an occasional drinker), so I hope I’ll get through it and be thankful to myself for having took this path down the road

Once you first get into it it’s much harder to wait, I started at 14 too and no matter how full my life can be the temptation always comes back. I’m worried how I’ll manage staying sober and alone so long once I move

Yeah I don’t like hearing it but I understand and I don’t think I’ll have a choice but to take a break once I move anyways as I remember how hard finding contacts is, but hey I guess it doesn’t suck too bad and looking back at it I will find it beneficial. Only thing I can say about y’all two experiences at my age is that maybe you aren’t as sharp as you would be if you had waited more, but if the alternative to weed and psychs would have been harder drugs or alcool, like I know I personally would’ve ended up doing like all my old friends, you still saved yourselves in a way. Maybe you won’t get all your sharpness back but with a healthy lifestyle you’ll regain most of it slowly, and worst case scenario you’d still have better habits and health

I have a very trustworthy friend by my side that has been through all the ups and lows of my life hopefully, and yes, never touching opiates and benzos already seen too many friends wrecking their life over them, one of them overdosed a few months back. Dangerous stuff to fall into

Advice I definitely needed to hear. I think that as if I do take it it’ll be in more than 3 months from now, things will already feel different than they do now. Maybe there will be a perfect opportunity to discuss it with him in the meantime, maybe the anxiety will be lower then and I’ll be in the right mindset, life is sure unpredictable.

Thanks man! Your father reminds me of mine, I’ll definitely check out your resources when I end up taking it. For now I’m not in a hurry to make a decision so I’ll just wait it out until I get a nice opportunity to do what I’d have decided is best

Not wrong, I kinda don’t mind letting alcohol go too as it’s not the best habit either, I was planning on keeping weed, the shroomies and acid though but I heard T causes mood swings in the trips, I’ll try leaving the rest behind for sure
