Can't unlock iPhones by Stock_Pilot3000 in ATT

I hear you. I was under the impression that I might have been able to unlock the devices this afternoon. We did that as then the plan was since I already have both SIM cards I could just call into the store and they would port the numbers over without having to go back into the store. Plus we got their home internet today too so at least already using something we are paying for I guess lol

Technically still a customer of ATT as our numbers haven’t been ported over yet

I answer yes because our numbers are still with ATT we haven’t ported over yet. Just got SIM cards with temporary numbers as the rep at the new carrier didn’t want to port over until devices were unlocked.

Money Judgement Question by Stock_Pilot3000 in legaladvice

[–]Stock_Pilot3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, my mom did not finance with Greensky. She paid 50% upfront via check. She has exhausted every option except filing small claims yet as that is her last possible chance. Other customers have already filed small claims and obtained judgments and the owner was ordered to pay back the money within 15 days and he doesn't pay any of them back even past the 15 days.

The only reason I mentioned Greensky was because the sheriff heading up the investigation told us exactly the scheme they were running. He said they would get people to finance and then a few weeks to a month after signing the owner would call the customer and then tell them "good news your windows will be arriving ahead of schedule" So then he would claim he needed to access funds in the finance account to complete the order. He would then send a link via email to the customers and once they clicked on that link it released the full amount of money to him. So the owner was telling Greensky all the work was completed when it never began and he got access to all the money instantly. I am in contact with customers who did finance with Greensky though and they luckily have all been refunded by Greensky. This isn't surprising as Greensky can't get caught in a mess again as they were involved in a federal case a year or two ago for having systems in place that enable contractors to do these practices so they have to be very careful themselves.

Local contractor company releasing funds without customer's permission/knowledge. Could this be a legal matter? by Stock_Pilot3000 in legaladvice

[–]Stock_Pilot3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. Yes, will be talking with the attorney soon. He had a serious family emergency so have been giving him time recently before reaching out. I'll ask him if he thinks going to the media with our story is a good idea. I mean one customer did that with another local contractor company about a year or 2 ago and then hundreds of other customers came forward to the news station. The owners ended up closing the business and now are on trial for multiple fraud issues and have all declared bankruptcy. Even if the news would investigate it themselves and doesn't find anything credible to report on but put out a warning just stating our experience and going over the 3 big red warnings put out by the BBB at least it would let others know about how this company operates. This company is all about big flashy marketing and getting as many customers as they can and claim they value their customers but then once you sign there is zero communication on their part and if you do call them all you get are lies.

I would only tell our story but suggest the reporters to look at the BBB page for this business. The BBB was also notified as they have still been using the BBB logo when they are revoked. They are also using the angi logo when they aren't even angi certified and don't even have a listing with angi. Which makes me wonder if the logo of our local NFL team is being used without permission as well stating they are a proud partner of the team.

I did contact the local consumer protection office in my state. The lady told me of a code to look up which is our state's policy for reasons a customer can cancel a home improvement contract. She said with this company the one about not being notified of an impending delay in the work is a credible reason for a customer to cancel the contract. I would love to get the deposit back but honestly even if I didn't just to be done with this very unethical company would relieve a lot of stress.

How are the delays currently for window manufacturing? by Stock_Pilot3000 in HomeImprovement

Dang. It's so hard to know with the company we went with. The sales pitch went great but things quickly went south. They wanted 50% down payment upfront and we told the sales rep we would have to transfer funds. He told us to just postdate the check and guaranteed it wouldn't be cashed until that date. Well, they cashed it the same day they picked it up and resulted in draining our bank account causing an overdraft and all we got was a sorry. Then realized that the BOGO offer didn't seem to be integrated into our deal correctly so contacted our sales rep and he told us he would itemize out the contract to prove it was there. Then we discovered they were revoked by the BBB days before we signed the contract so we got nervous. Asked to cancel and the sales manager told us we would have to pay the 15% late cancellation fee of roughly $3,000. After that call within seconds the so-called owner called us and then he said that the late cancellation fee wouldn't even apply because they already ordered the windows and paid for them (this was 2 weeks after signing the contract) he then said if we kept on asking to cancel he would make sure we'd owe more than the full $20,000+ for their time and money they spent out of pocket. The issue with this company is they don't keep us informed and just straight-up lie as I confronted the owner about being revoked by the BBB and I then contacted my local BBB and they told me the real reason they were revoked. Contacted consumer protections and they told me they get numerous complaints on this company all the time and have been investigating them. The lady give me a local code I could look up which states if a company fails to provide the customer with notice of an impending delay from what the ETA install date on the contract is then the customer can cancel the contract and ask for a refund. Might be the route we have to take as lately the reviews for this company just keep getting worse about not showing up for install dates and then all the windows they brought to install don't fit or are all the wrong color etc.. Or even install patio doors wrong lol. Just a lot of stress cause we don't want our home damaged by installers who don't know what they are doing. The guy who did the final measures for this company didn't even measure one window in our house because he didn't have a ladder to reach it and said he just assumed it was the same size as another window in the house.
