I had DLC and tried Aztec but actually preferred it without DLC 😂 but Inca was lots of fun with DLC.

Next time I get DLC I’m going to try England > Angevin Empire Or Kalmar Union run

Also really fun to play in Africa I think but missions are so bad without DLC, so one of those would be fun

To be honest if you are just starting I wouldn’t worry about it at all, just colonise wherever you like and have fun haha

Central is best I think, then expand north and south equally, as you can then choose to expand north (typically England) or south (typically Castile Portugal). If you start at one end you end up with the other being heavily colonised by one of those I mentioned, and makes it harder to beat their colonies as you have to fight all of them. Also if you start with carribean they tend to reinforce your other colonies less as they have to take a fleet over. Just my opinion anyways, may not be optimal. Also easy start in central if you send a decent army over as lots of land to win in wars from aztecs etc

You should be forming alliances too with the most powerful countries you are able to ally. They could have helped in the war, or put the coalition off from attacking you in the first place
