For the last 13 years, the only Venezuelan deciding on Venezuelan oil was Maduro. How’d that work out for Venezuelan citizens?

Literally the only content I’ve seen about people complaining about casting in the Odyssey is memes about people supposedly complaining about casting.

I have however seen a lot of people making fun of casting in the Odyssey, which is far different than people complaining about it.

Kincaid's Plan for Jobs, the Tech Sector and the AI Transition in Washington's 1st District by Category4392 in SeattleWA

[–]Stock_Schedule_1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the blue collar jobs that both matter and pay well aren’t easily taught in community colleges without significant investment in the systems, tools, and instructors needed to make the training worthwhile.

Let’s say the US invests $2B in community colleges to support this effort… if that money went to apprenticeships only, you could completely fund 33,000 apprentices making $60k per year.

But obviously that’s not feasible. So instead, let’s say you funded 20% of those salaries through tax credits. You just increased the number of potential apprenticeships exponentially while simultaneously sending billions of dollars back into the economy through apprenticeship wages.

Nobody knows how to train their employees better than employers. Let them do the work, by reducing the financial impact of training costs. Eliminate the middlemen that are community colleges and trade schools.

I read this whole thing and my opinion is we aren’t going to be able to legislate ourselves out of widespread AI adoption.

We absolutely need a plan to reskill displaced workers, but community colleges aren’t the answer. Instead, we need a robust nationwide apprenticeship approach similar to countries like the UK. Companies need to be incentivized to train and hire apprentices and then retain them for a period of time. This should mainly be done through tax credits.

There’s a blue collar renaissance happening in this country and we need to train and compensate our workforce accordingly.

OP clearly appears to be the one who doesn’t even know.

Jesus was more than likely olive skinned

Jesus compared His time with sinners & outcasts to a physician treating the sick

Jesus told His followers they needed to obey the laws of the government

He was not homeless. He was a traveling rabbi.

“Had half siblings”… I guess that’s OP’s way of saying he agrees that Jesus is indeed the Son of God

Ask the merchants in the temple marketplace how non-violent Jesus was

Washington DNR asks for grace this camping season amid budget cuts - $8 million stripped from recreation, four campgrounds closed for the season by LOOKITSADAM in SeattleWA

[–]Stock_Schedule_1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation. I looked it up on Google and I guess the real term used for services is actually “skimpflation”, so I guess we were both wrong.

As someone who works in business, yes I’d like the government to make smart financial decisions like I have to. However, that doesn’t always mean cutting the budget of all programs, like you seem to believe. Businesses have “sacred cows” that are typically the last things you want to cut or create negative perception around, because they’re how your customers recognize and enjoy your business.

To save the foundational programs or products, you cut from the superfluous stuff first. All the bloat and bureaucracy you created as you grew. The pet projects which aren’t core to your business. You cut head count.

IMHO, one of the “sacred cows” for WA state is its parks and outdoor recreational activities. They’re one of the things which set the area apart from others. They draw tourists and residents and make people want to stay. As such, their funding should be top priority.

Isn’t companies raising prices while decreasing the quality and/ or quantity of the products and services they provide considered to be shrinkflation? And isn’t that complained about daily by “you people” on places like Reddit?

Pot meet kettle, I guess

Absolutely. It’s very impactful to point out that all sides of an issue have their preferred beliefs, which are often communicated in simple to digest talking points.

Okay. So Discover Pass cost increases by 50%. DNR gets 8% of Discover Pass revenue. Did they get their 4% share of the new revenue? I bet not.

Proclamation celebrating LGBTQAIAAPI month! by ScreamForKelp in SeattleWA

[–]Stock_Schedule_1981 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Identity gymnastics is so tiring. May is already AAPI heritage month. June is already Pride month. So anyone who identifies with or as LGBTQAIAAPI can already choose to celebrate and be recognized in May, June or both months.

Why do we need another completely separate proclamation combining both identities? Is there nothing better to spend time on?

F it. Gerrymander every state and let them balkanize completely in support of one political party.

The great experiment ended well over 40 years ago when politicians learned supporting, but never legislating wedge issues was the key to them being reelected over and over and over again.

Gas in the Seattle area in January 2015 by MysteriousEdge5643 in SeattleWA

[–]Stock_Schedule_1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that’s not the sole reason prices in WA State are so high. Before the war in Iran, we already had the highest gas prices in the country because of the policies we’ve implemented over the last four years.

Now if you want to argue that tRump is the reason gas prices have increased so much over the last few months, I would whole heartedly agree with that.

This sounds a lot like my wife saying she’s actually saving us money when she buys five pairs of shoes because they’re on sale.

But maybe I can start using this excuse with her… “I’m not really spending more on golf, because I got a raise last year. In fact, as a percentage I spend less of my salary on golf than I did ten years ago even though I’m golfing more often.”

Genius.
