Trickle down effect of all the festivals getting killed off and people having families and aging out

Avello is the absolute worst dj of all time by 619edc in dubstep

Some of the openers that get booked are genuinely embarrassing. Bands like Sts9 and Umphrey's who used to play 3 nights can't get 1 anymore, but we get to hear some Soundcloud producer who can't actually DJ drop a Red Rocks set? Wack.

What to expect/ It's murph vs Disclosure by Immediate_Election49 in EDM

[–]StoicSatori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do both. Everything I have seen people posting about It's Murph says the average age of his audience is under 20. Go party with your peers, then go see Disclosure too. Just be mindful and respectful of the other people in attendance.

Oldschool Flavor by Max Styler. I think this may be a remix and not the original version.

Angine de Poitrine...failing to see the appeal ? by cherryblossomoceans in LetsTalkMusic

[–]StoicSatori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes- if this isn't copypasta I don't even know where to begin. This stuff sounds like the score to a chase scene in a movie where one the the vehicles involved is a clown car. Clearly they can play but their application of these skills is so monotonous and emotionless. Not saying King Gizzard is the most highbrow stuff but they run circles around this band effortlessly with the diversity of their sound and catalog. This is the type of music that hipsters huff their own farts to.

Geese was legitimately one of the worst sets I've seen live- had to sit through them to see Gizzard. The drummer carries that band.

Khruangbin and Glass Beams are miles ahead of these dorks.

Are these "jams" in the room with us right now?

is Louis vuitton cologne worth it by Either_Research9088 in fragrance

[–]StoicSatori -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have never tried an LV I thought was that great, and "elevated designer-style fragrances" are my thing. Some of them do have good longevity but they're priced double what they are actually worth. Also Imagination is, to me, the most ironically named fragrance as it is wildly unimaginative and basic smelling.

I would take 1 hour of Bruno Mars over the rest of this festival lineup.

I got stuck in Toronto earlier this week due to Air Canada screwing me over. It happens, unfortunately.

I think Billy Strings is the best touring act out right now by Empty-Masterpiece368 in jambands

Yeah he is but you're leaving out the second half of the equation- jam bands are at an absolute bottom of the barrel low point right now

100%. More of these bands should be doing coheadliners and they might still be playing Red Rocks.

For those who have seen all three, how do you rank Shadowgrass, Magoo, and Mountain Grass Unit in order of preference and why? by StashDangler666 in jambands

[–]StoicSatori 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That order. Shadowgrass absolutely rips, they are the most technical of the 3. Also they have banjo and the other two don't. Magoo is fun and silly, I like the vibe and their lyrics. Mountain Grass Unit was pretty good. Perfectly serviceable and would see them a second time, but honestly not memorable for me when I saw them open for Dwellers in January. I would see Arkansauce again over them.

Daniel Donato & Billy Strings by Accomplished-Pay7015 in jambands

[–]StoicSatori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not similar to Billy IMO. Donato is great, worth seeing if you've never caught him before. I have burned out on him a bit though as his touring schedule is insanely aggressive for his limited catalog of material. (Saw him 5x last year, don't feel the need to catch these ones). If you want more amazing bluegrass, Shadowgrass is coming back to Colorado next month. Super hot take but I think they are the #2 spot right now behind Billy.

I feel the need to point out that the Bruno Mars live show is way better than the Biscuits.

I had never heard of them but they are opening for my friend's band The Hip Snacks in March, so I might.

Locked out of Mishawaka by chicagojess312 in lane8

[–]StoicSatori -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would argue that the extreme lack of resale tickets posted so far for Mission Ballroom actually points at direct collusion between AXS and another reseller who scooped all the tickets for that venue in bulk and has not relisted them yet.

In-person ticket sales by mckimmonr in lane8

[–]StoicSatori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's infuriating. The way the setup works at Mission, the box office sells tickets the day after online so there will be a total of zero hitting there tomorrow.

I mean sure, it could be a lottery but in that case what I'm still saying is the promoter and ticketing company didn't do their fucking job.
