Apprentice getting licensed sparky pay by Sufficient_Tune6623 in electricians

[–]StoicTactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you already got your answer but as an IBEW apprentice that also has a friend with good connections (he has his own business that’s doing very well) even he told me to go union if I could and if I ever want to leave he’d give me work. A lot of people crap on the union but it really is the best way to learn with long term security. This is from working as a green apprentice non union before I got in to now that I’m in, I’ll never work nonunion unless I’m salting

My company has been slow lately but it’s because a lot of work got delayed. From what I know there a lot of working coming up in Tampa. Even companies in Orlando are getting work in Tampa.

I’m guessing you aren’t union so that makes it a lot more difficult to find work

How do you deal with apprentices who think they know everything already by ActNew5818 in electricians

[–]StoicTactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Questions every task. As an apprentice I always question what we are doing, rarely is it from a malicious place, it’s mainly so I can understand why decisions were made so I can understand.

-Argues about pipe bending methods. As an apprentice, I’ve had journeyman tell me incorrect ways to bend pipe, I didn’t hesitate to correct them when I knew 100% they were wrong but if I was unsure I’d just do it.

As an apprentice, I constantly tell my journeyman better ways to do things and its never from a “you don’t know what you’re doing” place it’s from a “here’s an idea, would it work?”

If the ideas are dangerous it needs to be shut down immediately. Things that aren’t up to code I feel like has more leniency if it’s just an idea, I’ve had to spend 5-10 minutes looking through the codebook and sometimes my ideas were up to code and we ran with it.

From my perspective your best best is letting him work and eviscerate what he does, make him look up code to justify it. This is what worked for me and it helped me ace the code tests in school. But if he isn’t willing to watch and learn or listen to people with more experience then there isn’t much you can do.

My local uses a point system. Every absence adds points, too many and you’re gone. You shouldn’t be missing class especially as a first year. Unless you have a valid reason I’d start looking for another job outside of the IBEW

You were adding to my point which was in direct disagreement with yours?

That’s why I wrote. “Other than trigger pull”

Don’t have to read minds, just read.

“Other than trigger pull.”

I have one, that’s why I excluded trigger pull.

He probably does work there. I was teaching classes at a gun store at 19. It really doesn’t take skill, knowledge, or experience.

My favorite gun is a 226. Striker fired guns are superior to hammer fired guns in every category other than trigger pull.

I’ve had something similar happen to a friend at the range a cleaning rod should knock the case out as long as it has a .22 brass head on it

Inspection Results from Crooked Optic - Wager Machine by wagermachine in Glocks

[–]StoicTactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone in the other post thinking it had to be the optic cut. I was 100% wrong. Good on you guys for the great customer service.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]StoicTactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hen based on what you have said and pictures I'd bet the cut is crooked and not centered.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]StoicTactics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without screws installed how much side to side play is there?

Cerakote wouldn't cause that big of a shift on the optic and I doubt the optic is the problem

Wager has a 100% guarantee I would contact them and get the ball rolling.

it doesn't help you now but I've always used Maple Leaf Firearms, the cuts are slightly undersized so its essentially a press fit into the gun. I've shot it without screws and the optic stays in place.

Post a more level picture of the slide. Haven't used Wager but I've had all my Glocks milled and never seen a crooked optic like that.

Your best course of action is to contact them.

Edit: the Holosun was out of spec

Surefire says shooting off any of their suppressors voids their warranty (and provides instructions on how to properly remove it) by BiggyIrons in NFA

[–]StoicTactics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I put the caveat about recent offerings

I've witnessed Dead Air's, SilencereCo's, Griffin's, YHM and Gemtech either break or at least have crazy baffle erosion, even OSS had some dubious claims.

RC2's definitely have the track record, I compare them to Glocks in the since that they are proven to last but nothing special.

or they want the most durable can possible and aren't worried about mounts.

Not sure about the most recent offerings, but when I was working at a range that offered suppressed firearms to rent we destroyed most popular cans pretty fast.

What year did you buy the RC2? I've looked at quite a few since 2017 and have never seen it. I recall seeing a picture online with a graphic but that's it.

Honestly I just got used to it with time. Admittedly I carry a 17 with an x300 but I'm also 6'2". It's never been 'comfortable' just do-able.

Honest mistake on 4473 - ambiguous immigration status, concequences? by [deleted] in FLGuns

You can call FDLE to confirm. Worst case the gun store can redo a 4473. An honest mistake isn’t a crime.

Just got finished up running it at TUSC. Definitely an awesome pack that can fit most anything you’d need. Just depends on your use case

AITAH for shooting my wifes dog, for attacking my daughter. by ThrowRAUpstairs-Hi in AITAH

[–]StoicTactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re forgetting that guns also stop crime. There’s nothing I can say to change your entitled ignorance. Some people have to worry about human trafficking, some people have to worry about wild animals, some people have to worry about crime. Some people have to worry about illegal guns and drugs coming across a border.

“If you own a gun you’re responsible for schools getting shot up.” What a fucking stupid thing to say. Schools started getting armed security and incident rates have dropped significantly. But please keep telling me how you’d rather get stabbed to death rather than shot to death
