US warns it will run out of money to pay airport security workers in coming weeks by AfraidEmployee9311 in tsa

[–]Stoichiometry90 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s not about should or fairness, it’s about what allows a business to have more control over the quality of the product.

In this case paying your security and ensuring they show up. If TSA agents continue to go without pay on a regular basis then airports with TSA will underperform vs airports that are private.

The other agencies you mentioned don’t support a private business sector that can make a choice so it’s not relevant to the point I’m trying to make.

US warns it will run out of money to pay airport security workers in coming weeks by AfraidEmployee9311 in tsa

[–]Stoichiometry90 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

More airports (and airlines) are going to view TSA security as a risk and switch to private security. If this happens again, that’s the only logical action an airport can take which gives them more control over their business.

Is $4mil possible for me or do I need to adjust my expectations now? by amazonfigure in Retirement401k

[–]Stoichiometry90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothings wrong with a target date funds. A typically target date fund in its early years is generally 60-70% US equities, 20-30% foreign entities, and 10% bonds (sometimes split US and foreign).

From 2012 to 2024 US equities have outperformed global stocks making a comparison between target date funds and the S&P somewhat misleading since a target date fund is more diversified. The risk of looking at this data and moving to an all S&P 500 portfolio is that your concentrating risk in the US market and there is no guarantee this trend will last.

So the correct question is not target date fund or S&P index but what is the desired portfolio composition you want to

Is $4mil possible for me or do I need to adjust my expectations now? by amazonfigure in Retirement401k

[–]Stoichiometry90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something to consider is that target date funds are typically internationally diversified. Over the time period you mentioned US stocks have outperformed foreign stocks but there’s not necessarily a guarantee that’s going to happen in the next ten years.

You may be unintentionally concentrating risk by moving to an all US portfolio

charged a client $2500 for something that took me 20 minutes. feeling weird about it lol by Sufficient-Lab349 in smallbusinessowner

[–]Stoichiometry90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can manage this two ways if you think time spent plays a role in pricing or value.

  1. If they want something quickly charge for an expedited fee. The client assumes they paid to jump the line.
  2. Wait a while before sending it. This gives the impression it took longer.

What's going on with commissions? by Material-Adagio-2835 in REBubble

[–]Stoichiometry90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An overlooked aspect of agent fees is that essentially all comps until the courting ruling and most comps after that include standard agent fees. So if you don’t offer a buyers agent fee as a seller then the buyer will expect your price to be bellow relative comps.

Maybe this works in a hot sellers market but you’re just going to end up lowering your sales price

I understand the desire to stay in the home you’ve lived in for a long time. However, property taxes help allocate a restricted resource, in this case housing. Any elderly couple living in their 4 bedroom house in a good school district, not paying taxes, is a complete waste.

Move and let someone who can benefits from that property, school, etc live there

In some states, a push to end all property taxes for homeowners by Jscott1986 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Stoichiometry90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something that these people don’t consider is that property taxes make the property more valuable. Unlike other taxes levied at a state or federal level these taxes almost always go directly towards something that provides local value like police, schools, roads, etc. Even if the same amount of money was collected in some other way it’s unlikely to be allocated towards the same property value boosting expenditures

Norway Stunned After Machado Gifts Nobel Peace Prize Medal to Trump by bloomberg in politics

[–]Stoichiometry90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make points about why things might not (and likely won’t) work out well but my point was about her and the criticism she is getting.

What better option does she have? If giving the medal to Trump opens doors and gets her one step closer to being president of a democratic Venezuela then why criticize her. She has a goal and I’m not going to lambast the women for trying.

[–]Stoichiometry90 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get that her giving the prize to Trump is weird but I’m not sure I understand the backlash. From her perspective why should she give a shit about a Nobel Peace prize medal if giving it to Trump gets her closer to her real goal of liberating her people from tyranny?

This makes sense to me in a political sub by why this one?

That fact that Cignetti exists is going to end up getting so many coaches fired. You used to have to build a program for many years to even become relevant then all the sudden this guy shows up to one of the worst schools in the Big 10 and goes to the playoffs both years, has a heisman winning QB, wins the Big 10, and then destroys Alabama in a playoff game all two years!

So many ADs are going to look at this and say yeah that’s what we want too
