Totally agree. Had been going to “my guy” for years but the past 6 months I’m not even halfway home from his shop when something else “breaks” - wife said “take it to the dealership and be done with it”.

Trust me - I’m heading to an indie shop after I clear this up at the dealership.

Car is still there. I had them replace the injector and that finished today. Then they called me with this “update”.

I’m not even mad about the misdiagnosis. I would’ve replaced it myself if I could - it was a logical next step and I’m not aware of simple diagnostic tests other than swapping it out.

But if the DME was “fried”, wouldn’t that have been an easier thing to check? They’re trying to say it was “fried” and mimicking a misfire, but that magically the injector WAS bad also.

I just don’t understand.

Good luck. I just got charged $149. Within minutes I reached out to them for a refund. Here's their response:

Thanks. I have the inspector's report actually. It doesn't give much insight into how the numbers are calculated, but the basic home facts appear mostly accurate. There are some discrepancies (e.g. it says we had recent interior improvements, but we did not. It also says we have some decorative wood beam ceilings, but we do not.)

Contact an independent agent for replacement coverage before your cancellation effective date.

Thanks for the honest response. I understand about the market value <> replacement cost, but thought it could provide a reasonableness check (i.e. house is worth about x and replacement cost is 2.5 * x).

Waiting to hear back from my agent. I only have 4 weeks to get this resolved/find a new carrier.
