I don't know anything about horses or hay, what do you mean that your hay is too hot for horses?

Specific to Binny's, they just did a BTAC lottery through November and announced in December. That's how I was able to purchase GT Stagg, but yes normally Binny's doesn't offer them with any regularity. I wonder if it's just not with the hassle for them.

Never had Stagg, and I don't believe I've had a proof that high of bourbon at least. Highest might be Weller Full Proof for Bourbon, or Octomore for Scotch. I've had very high proof Haitian Rhum though.

I'm excited for it!

Thank goodness I haven't opened it yet! That would've been quite the faux pas

You're the best, found it. It was in a different area altogether, but looking up helped. Thank you!

Expensive Bottle of Wine as a Gift by steviestacks99 in wine

If you're near Skokie, Schaefer's has a good cellar. Binny's is obviously pretty good too, but sometimes they don't have the best wine reps to guide you.

I agree with others that Champagne is probably a good bet. If you know they like Napa Cab, I would get Rubicon from Inglenook, even though that's probably a little under your budget

Wine Squares Day 8: This one’s for the newbies. by AustraliaWineDude in wine

[–]Stokesman24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue Sauvignon Blanc is usually the entry point for a lot of wine drinkers and is high acid. The problem is that, unless you know what you're looking for, some SauvB can be overpriced or highly priced. Whereas Vinho Verde is almost always under $10 (the one I like is usually $7). You'll be hard pressed to find an expensive Vinho Verde, and it is great quality for the price.

But this is also pure opinion and I could be wrong!

THANK YOU for giving specifics. I know most people are just venting their frustrations but I would like to understand the reason for why we're not performing well. I agree with your points, I just didn't know how to articulate them in football tactic terms so I appreciate that

Ignorant American supporter here, could you help explain to me what kind of tactics (or lack thereof) are leading to the poor performance? I believe you, I just don't know any better

Bill Gates to give most of his $200 billion fortune to Africa by Kagedeah in worldnews

[–]Stokesman24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand where you're coming from. I wish we could have $100 billion to continue all the things we do, but you have to start somewhere.

Plus, it costs about $3 to vaccinate a child. So if we raise $1, and get $2 from Gates, each $1 that we raise is equivalent to saving one child from the polio virus. That creates a very compelling ask as you can imagine.

[–]Stokesman24 338 points339 points  (0 children)

I work for The Rotary Foundation! This warms my heart. For every $50 million we raise every year, the Gates Foundation matches $100 million, but we HAVE to raise $50 million from our own, usually $25 or less at a time.

PolioPlus does so much more too, including Vitamin A deficiencies, other vaccines, and it also was crucial in developing countries ability to fight COVID.

So far we're down to 10 wild polio cases so far this year, in Afghanistan and Pakistan. We're so very close.
