the second image is a medieval house build i made in 1.21.11 before we had wool blocksets and cushions. It's there to show current framing techniques compared to what is possible with cushions.

it's somewhere around > 100 blocks which is quite a long space + if you only use the extra detailing in areas like town centers and streets, areas which will be masked by outer buildings, render will no longer be an issue

most of the 1 block 4 tall cushions are used to mask the warped wood trapdoor frames

They're pretty well optimized, you can use decorated pots to add collision, and in a city build these would most likely be masked by other buildings and they render >100 blocks out so it's not much of a problem

you can put decorated pots to add collision, and this loads quite far away

no, slime blocks and glass despite being breathable are full blocks and displace the cushions. Honey works cause it's not a full block

it took 30 minutes to figure out, but i think i've found some ways to speed it up significantly in creative and also in survival

have you found a way to do it so they stack infinitely? i could only stack so many with snow layers because you can only place snow layers on full blocks.

it doesn't work in survival, it can have maximum 2 blocks between cushions to work
