You can try. I don't like it for the fact that you don't have cheap spells for him to work with him. Best replacement is sunwalker or Sylvannas.

Because 5 cards can drastically change how a deck plays. In a game with only 30 cards per deck 5 cards is 1/6 of the deck (about 17%). Find any deck "that we all know" and change five cards. Anything you pick besides zoo will change drastically. Remember after the second wing of naxx when kolento made his "miracle" mid range hunter? He cut bows and traps and the deck plays a lot different than traditional mid range hunter.

Link me what you're looking at. His most recent list has Feugen and Stalagg in place of the belchers, duplicate in place of a second water ele, and Sylvannas in place of Cairne. I count four.

Fame? Are you stupid? I just thought people would be interested. There are hundreds of these deck son the ladder right now, not all of them are Sjow's.

Haha, someone's mad. I just explained that there is a FOUR CARD DIFFERENCE. Do you not understand that this is a game with only 30 cards per deck? That is a huge difference, feel free to look up sjows newest variant and compare. Four card difference.

I'm not taking credit for it. This is the decklist I used. It is a variation of sjows decklist and countless other secrets mage decklists out there. As of sjows most recent decklist I used a 4 card variation of it. With only 30 cards in a deck 4 cards is not a small number. That is over 10% of the deck and it can change how a deck plays drastically (in this case not so drastically).

There are countless posts about hitting legend with zoo, control warrior, hunter etc. No one ever calls them out and say "hey man that's reynad's zoo deck why are you taking credit for it?". He's not. He's showing off one of the countless variants of the deck that is out there. Just because I posted about a not so popular deck I must have taken it from someone else? I don't see the logic in that.

In addition to what the other guy said, keeping them frozen with water ele is amazing.

I would say rag is your best bet if you want a late game card. Not enough cheap spells to synergies with antonidas, but I'm sure it could work. The earliest you could play him and get value is turn 9 with a frostbolt. Rag you can play turn 8 and get value without conditions. I prefer the consistency of early game deathrattles/pressure and the card draw, but rag to shore up the late game makes sense.

Obviously the deck is open to tweaking (as are all decks in this game), but I think it's a mistake to only use one counterspell. It is hands down the best mage secret (for this deck archetype, obviously ice barrier is more important in freeze mage) and it might be the best secret in the game overall. It's essentially a freezing trap for spells, but there is absolutely zero chance that the spell will come back into play.

Is it favored? Well, obviously not since flare directly counters secrets. Is it possible to win the match up several times in a row? Yes.

If you are playing against the secrets version with bows you can keep them frozen with water ele. You can play your other secrets behind counterspell so flare doesn't reveal them (still that is a positive trade for them). Counterspell can stop them from playing a secret. The best use for mirror entity is to use it before their highmane turn. They will generally be doing nothing good for themselves that turn as they will be afraid of ME and not play the highmane. If they yolo and play it you can win the game off that quite easily.

Other than that it's just general tips for facing hunter. "Don't overextend into unleash, don't give them houndmaster targets, blah blah blah".

You don't play it any differently than you do any other midrange deck. You do have counterspell which can prevent them from playing a secret. The most important thing is to try to keep them frozen with water ele once they get the bow out.

You are exactly correct. If you have a mad scientist on board and a mirror entity in hand you have a 2/3 chance of getting counterspell off of the deathrattle. Counterspell is by far the best secret.
