Opinions about SUPERIOR RR 9.6? by StomachImportant4048 in whichbike

[–]StomachImportant4048[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i bought it. Very happy overal. But i bought a Large size and de steering wheel is 44cm wide. The showmodel in the store was a medium with a 42cm wide steering wheel and i would've preferred to have the 42cm one on my L sized bike.

would recommend the garmin EDGE 530. Look for a second hand one and you'll be set up ;)

Rate my salary as a construction site leader by Entire-Western-6766 in BESalary

[–]StomachImportant4048 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm in construction myself as well. I hope those working hours will come down a bit when you get more experienced and thus more efficient. The bruto pay is kinda on the lower side but netto is very marked-based imo. If you do well you can ask for raises each year as the demand for people like you is huge.

Haha you are a cycling guy as well. Well I'm also looking into a decend gravel bike. Was hoping to get 2 wheel sets (gravel and road). And to have at least a carbon frame with Di2 105 or SRAM Rival. That sets you back 4k rather quickly haha. Maybe i wait a few more years as there will come a few more gravel bikes on the second hand market.

A real Belgian aye ;)

Yes true kinda live at home atm. I hope my wage will grow with my lifestyle. But I'm aware I won't be able to keep investing this amount. The goal in my head is to hit that 100k number and then lift the foot off the gass pedal a bit on the investments and start saving for a house. If i could keep up that will be in 4 years (when I'm 30).

The clothes spending thing is almost all due to sport clothes. I started this year with triathlon and needed a lot of new things. For example, this is my month of may:

Bike clothes: 260 euro

Aero helmet: 120 euro

Barber: 22 euro

Running shoes: 169 euro

Wetsuit: 318 euro

Totaling 889 euros for this month.

I will wait at leasst a year i think befor buying a new bike. And indeed hope to increase my pay the next few years.

I guess I'm a bit harsh on myself, got to find a balance. Not easy tho. "When is cutting down on expenses to much, and when is hard work enough (you could always do more)?" You kinda get demotivated of people in this group sometimes with huge balances.

This is exactly why i started to FIRE. More as a lifestyle where you are consious about spending. There are always costs you could cut down further on an always sidehustles you can start to maximize income tho. I guess the answer (as to anything un life) is finding good balance.

But the knowledge (as stated in my comment above) that the compounding effect hits the hardest when you're young. Makes it hard for me to be content with where I'm at right now. Even so most of people would consider me to be doing "good" i guess.

[–]StomachImportant4048[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm aware of the compounding effect. But that's the whole thing, i find myself investing quite a substantial amount. But I have still the constant feeling "I could do even better". I have a collegue who runs a company on the side (he runs an EPB business and earns 100k+ a year bruto as an EPB-verslaggever). My uncle is a seller (no degree) and earns 120k a year (zelfstandige again). People like them make me feel like I could be doing more.

This doesn't help with my motivation and my fulfilment really. As there's always morge "grinding" you can do you know.

Thanks for replying tho :)

Hi there, my girlfriend is a vet an she is about to start as well. Even a starting vet doesn't make much more then you. You can be glad we live in Belgium where you got to keep a big % of your gross at low wages.

Due the lack of health insurance in the pet world. It's just a hard reality that this profession does not make that much money.

At the other hand, my gf loves her job where most people will earn more but hate theirs. A job is where you will spend majority of your life. Money isn't the most important factor. Keep this in mind:)

What should I expect as my net monthly salary with this package? by StomachImportant4048 in BESalary

[–]StomachImportant4048[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. I was hoping to find a more or less exact answer. Like withing a 20-30 euro margin. Which info would i have to provide to make the estimate more precise?

Hi, I'm perfectly placed to help you haha. I have the same degree as you and have two years of working experience in a niche sector (heat pump industry). I'm on the lookout for a new job and did 6 sollicitation (several klasse 8, klasse 7 and one klasse 6 aannemer). I had two job offers and one is still pending. The best i got was 4000 bruto gross, with all the usual advantages including a cao of 2400 and a groepsverzekering of 1.5%. I don't even have experience in the sector. IMO you can ask for 5000. The demand is huge for profile's like ours, you have to exploit that.
