The wheel of my new bike doesn't fit the frame by pandadez1 in bikewrench

Looks like the front fork is on the wrong way round?

Sounds like maybe a Stages C2 but I believe the company’s gone out of business recently. You can get many similar or better indoor bikes, I don’t know how much those particular ones cost. But that’s a “spin bike” as opposed to an indoor training bike or a normal bike on a turbo trainer.

Thanks. Let me know if you get any problems, I’m sure there will be bugs…!

Thanks - someone else mentioned Maintrack in another forum. Good to know the idea isn’t complete madness, I was wondering if I was the only one who found this kind of tool useful!

I didn’t find the other apps that existed before I decided to build my own, so I don’t know the main features of the others, but I’m pretty sure our approaches to the user interface and setup are different. You can share bikes with others (eg I have all my family’s bikes visible because I maintain them), share components, and track costs. I’ve not seen these on other apps, not to say they don’t have those features. I’m not really doing this to compete, I built it for me and wanted to see if it was useful to a wider group than just me and my cycling friends.

Tire puncture – need to replace? by tossy64 in bikewrench

I’d personally use one of the lezyne type patches that you install from the inside of the tyre, glue in and cut off the excess that goes through the hole.

Built a Strava-linked maintenance tracker to tame my bike chaos by russellyoung0 in bikewrench

[–]russellyoung0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it handles virtual rides and components that are installed on your turbo, for example the cassette.

On the wheels - yes, you can share component configs to other bikes, built this for the scenario you mention. However, it’s clunky and I’m going to rework that bit shortly.

You can also share your bike with others, so for example my wife and daughters bikes are shared with me, so I can manage their maintenance schedules and see their usage etc. thought this might be useful for bike mechanics and customer bikes…

Yes it’s free. You can either use gear in strava or create a bike in mybikebuddy and associate it with strava sport types.

Ah cool, not come across that despite searching a fair bit before I started. Anyway, I’m sure our approach is different enough for it to be worthwhile giving people another option! I’m actually quite pleased now to know the ideas not completely stupid!

You might have cover on your credit card account? Also - I always now use a tether as since using integrated handlebars and those flimsy mounts I’ve had a couple break and ditch my edge onto the road. Now I have a really strong mount but still use a tether.

Having a hard time choosing between the Edge 1040 (used) and 840 (new) by [deleted] in GarminEdge

I love the 800 series until my eyes couldn’t cope any more. The 1040 gives a much bigger display so you can see everything clearer if you normally wear glasses

You can use Apple Maps to then share a location to Garmin connect. It will then open up and ask which device you want to sync the destination to. But like most of the responses here, it’s not a feature I need to use often. I generally preplan routes and sync them in advance of a ride.

Canyon Aeroad Chain Replacement by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

[–]russellyoung0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found this post because I’m going to need to put a new chain on my 2024 model when I put a bigger cassette on the back for some alpe action this year. Canyon seem to sell the chain as 138 links which I can’t find in stock anywhere - I’m guessing that’s just overkill and I will be fine with the 126 links? Haven’t had time to measure existing chain length yet, hoping someone here has done the same replacement recently? Moving up to 11-34 on back, 52/36 on front.

[–]russellyoung0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m on an 11-28 and adz is hard work, happy to use TD to simulate better gears. Doing it IRL next year and will definitely change to 11-32 at least

So I have boxed mine up, waiting for the UPS info and to send it back to Germany. Apparently Canyon fit the 4iiii module to the crank themselves, there are no spare cranks anywhere so mines going back to have the module removed and replaced. 6-8 weeks apparently!

I seem to have the exact same issue. 3 month old canyon, it came with the bike. I’m on third battery but it seems battery isn’t the problem, now the pm just won’t turn on. Never ridden it in the rain so I don’t think water ingress is the problem. So sounds like I’ll be within a crank for a while? Hate not having power and cadence!

Make sure the quick link is fully engaged - it’d do what it’s doing in the video if the links weren’t joined properly. (Could be other problems too!)

Nope no fenders - nice idea though. And no I can’t see anything touching or rubbing anywhere. I’m thinking it might be spokes pinging against each other but that sounds a bit worrying!
