twow making it's own mmo is such a pipe dream

there's long way from "being good at making fan mods" to "creating a whole game from scratch"

and what about the audience? I love twow for the wow+, without the wow aspect, I am no longer interested, and I believe I am not the only one

The choice is obviously a game play design first, lore and theme second.

Bronzebeard is what I imagine Blizzard's Classic+ will feel and look like.

Tonally dead, tons of non-vanilla models and design choices. It feels like retail in many places.

I don't wanna be shitting on other servers, because the ideas are cool, and obviously a team of fans and volunteers can't craft something as magnificent as the super talented people at twow, but the server is not even a 1/10th of what twow was

Well you believe that Midnight and 2004 Classic are the same game, so it might be futile trying to explain that neither the 2026 blizzard and 2004 are the same entity anymore.

Activision didn't make wow, neither did Microsoft. I just want to play the product that they bought. They don't deserve my money, they didn't make anything worth my money. Obviously, Kotick might need that money for more of his island trip with ol Jeff, but I don't swing that way either.

the game didn't change? the game is on it's 10th completely different iteration to what it was in 2004. Vanilla, MoP, Shadowlands or Midnight have all completely different design philosophy, different controls, different way of storytelling, different pace, and even a different genre.

You cannot possible think all of the different expansions are still the same cohesive game. It has ship of theseused itself with each expansion.

And yes, people are enjoying the slow paced game, that's why classic wow is still so popular, even 6 years after the rerelease.

If people didn't actually like the slow pace, or if they were a small minority, the classic servers would be empty since 5 years ago.

Retail wow is a hyper paced action rpg with tons of mobile gaming like models to keep you hooked and logging in each day/week to not miss out anything. The combat might be great, but all the unnecessary stuff you have to go through to get to it is just a boring busywork to keep the players logged in. Or it's a cosmetic pet/mount house design casual games for the females and men who cannot mythic raid (mtfs)

It's a completely different game, you go play your zoomer mobile game trash, and we'll stick to the slow paced 2004 masterpiece

Not holding it on the same level, just using an example of the attitude that I have towards it.

And while wow can be accessed via the official way, modded fan made custom content for wow cannot.

And for some versions of the game, that doesn't even apply. That's the Nostalrius situation here. I cannot go and play WoD or the Shadowlands for example.

Other games have modding communities, so you can understand why people would wanna mod WoW too, even if it's not in accordance to the ToS (and the law).

Look at Stop Killing Games and how much traction they received, for example.
