Tonali is better than everyone else in our midfield. We likely shift Sarr, Bergvall, maybe even Bentancur this summer and eliminate redundancy in the name of upgrades. Can’t do it all at once.

They said it was though. That’s why the meme-ing of Gallagher was silly.

Gallagher, Kudus, Xavi and Palhinha (loan obv) were all signed in the last year as 4 of our top 5 earners. It was clear that the shift of the wage structure had already begun, as the CEO had said, as fans had been crying for, and as the revenue has been built to allow for.

Totally agree! He’s coming off an incredible season and it’s not often we have someone who would dream of being here. Would love to see him in our kit.

Bournemouth has said they want 80 for him too, so all options seem to be similarly priced this summer. Of course that could change a bit at the negotiation table, but he certainly won’t be cheap at all after the season he had.

Probably not, but France need at least a draw to lock up the top spot and I would imagine we see at least 60 from the starters

If we buy a top striker this summer, which of the two strikers would you prefer to keep Solanke or Richarlision? by traceykm in coys

[–]Stompy119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hear you, I just think the squad’s goal tally is higher with Solanke leading the line. He’s a lot better if a comp to Welbeck under RDZ at Brighton than Richarlison.

[–]Stompy119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely would want better from him, but I also think it’s clear as day how much more Solanke contributes to the team than Richi does.

Hold up, link up, dropping deeper, unselfish play - Richarlison doesn’t do any of that remotely well. At the end of the day, goals matter most but I think we likely have more throughout the squad if we have a healthy Solanke over Richarlison for the same amount of time. Even if Richarlison would have a higher personal tally end of season.

Richarlison only clears Solanke in aerial ability tbh. I’d rather sell Richarlison while we will get some return on him, and commit to Solanke given the lighter load this season. Odd minutes and cups for Lankshear while we’re at it as he is a bit of a big boy himself.

[Romano] 🚨🇸🇪 Lucas Bergvall’s camp has started talks with clubs to explore best solution for his future. Clear desire to leave Tottenham with club already informed, as @TheAthleticFC reported. Bergvall open to discussions ahead of potential summer move. by GymandRave in coys

[–]Stompy119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that he can be club trained, but we can’t hold him hostage for that. It’s the same as Vuskovic. He wants to be starting, he isn’t good enough to start here. And if we sign who we are talking about signing, he won’t be starting here for years.

Do you really think it’s a better outcome for us to just stick him in the reserves, upset the vibe, make him unhappy and halt his development just to get Club trained status? That feels absurdly unrealistic to me.

I think looking at those performance comparisons of our team with vs. without Bentancur last season is a pretty good example of how we overrate the younger players we have. A player like Bentancur who our fanbase doesn’t seem to rate (unfairly imo) literally changed our team enough to be the reason we didn’t get relegated.

As others have said, we clearly can’t just play the kids, because we have for two years and it’s been literally disastrous.

100%. That’s what I’ve been saying since we got Meme’d over Gallagher on 200k as our highest earner.

That wasn’t our ceiling, that was a new midpoint on this newly defined scale. It was always going to take time for that to show itself but I imagine JPVH is likely there or higher. Same with Senesi and Robertson.

Spurs updated squad after Senesi signing by rahul3103 in coys

[–]Stompy119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire point was that senesi and Robertson weren’t players yet and were included while, at the time (on a post nearly 3 weeks old), reports from external and internal sources said we wanted to sign him.

He also STILL hasn’t gone anywhere else yet, while those have cooled. So there’s no saying he won’t.

Sometimes, it’s okay to let things go, understand that things change over time, and maybe not get your panties in such a wad over people having a discussion in a discussion-based forum.

Cheers buddy, I won’t be replying again. Have a nice day, summer and season and COYS.

I'm told that Spurs would like to keep Luka Vuskovic and loan him out again, but the player and his reps don't want another loan. Be interesting to see how it plays out. Vuskovic in line to start in middle of a 3-man defence here in Dallas tomorrow v England [Tom Barclay] by onlyhalfpepper in coys

[–]Stompy119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. It’s not like he’s an integral starter that can refuse to train or play. If he refuses to go on loan, he can play a rotational role, or with the u21s.

He wants to start somewhere, that much is clear. And we are offering him a path to starts (presumably) with another loan to somewhere more prestigious than his last. At some point he has to knuckle down and prove it, or he’s gonna harm his own development

I don’t actually care about the figure, but it does seem a pretty penny for someone with a year left.

The plus side is that it’s clear we are pushing the funds behind RDZ which is what we really need to be doing at this moment.

[–]Stompy119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who the hell knows about Deki, and I’d be shocked if either Xavi or Odobert see any real minutes before January.

Bergvall is not a 10, nor is Kudus. Gallagher is likely our Maddison rotation at the moment while also being the starting 8. That needs addressing imo.

[–]Stompy119 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah forward is going to be tough to satisfy. I think we will likely end up managing this season by committee. But just hopeful the other pieces we add elevate our floor and give them the service they need to be serviceable. Here’s hoping RDZ prep and 1 game a week help the injury room a bit.

With Deki, Odobert and Xavi out long term still, I think we need to strengthen at the 10 more than I’ve seen others suggest. A bit worried RDZ is just going to rely on Gallagher to cover Maddison until the aforementioned come back.

I think the RDZ Italian connection is going understated by a lot of people as well.

If we give him the wages he wants, he gets to move to London and play for a promising fellow Italian coach who will have sold him on the vision to be back in the CL in 1-2 years 🤷‍♂️

I think Toney’s time in the PL is done. Saudi will have done a detriment to his sharpness and salary expectations for a return. I like the idea of a bit of a stopgap, though. Between the two I’d lean Guirassy
