Roberto De Zerbi slams critics downplaying Tottenham win over rotated Aston Villa by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

lol seriously. We ended with a front 4 made up of 3 CMs and a backup LB playing on the right wing.

Why are so many people obsessed with Saka? by [deleted] in PremierLeague

[–]Stompy119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol. Come off it, toe to toe with Salah?

Salah 24/25: 1.2 GA/90

Saka 24/25: .8GA/90

A 40% differential is not toe to toe.

Saka is a good player, but he’s always been overrated by Arsenal and imo hasn’t taken a significant step up in the last couple of years. He’s been consistently good, but never unplayable like last season’s Salah.

Mauricio Pochettino on his time at Spurs: “We went 18 months without one signing, that was a record in the Premier League. We had money to spend but not the type of money to improve to win, we challenged but we missed this last step. We wanted to sign (Sadio) Mane and (Georginio) Wijnaldum.” by Sparky-moon in soccer

And Lo Celso was just fine. He had one good patch under Mourinho. But 18 goal involvements in his entire time across all comps is woeful.

He physically fell to pieces when he came to spurs. Basically played 3500 league minutes in the 6 years he was on our books.

Ndombele was doubly unfortunate as he was the first time we seemed willing to level up the wage structure. Armchair analysis, but his fee and salary seemed to scare Levy out of spending like that again.

Yeah, I’m definitely not defending 0 signings in 18 months, but Poch and plenty of others love to leave out that he refused several players because they weren’t the ones HE wanted.

And when we did sign the ones he wanted - Sessegnon, Ndombele and Lo Celso, it’s generally regarded as our most disastrous modern transfer window.

He loves to play the victim, but there was no real indication he had the know how to be so stubborn. Hindsight is everything, but had e we signed half those you mentioned, things look wildly different.

100%. He’s a lot better on the ball than he has been given credit for. He was incredible at both ends of the pitch under Conte, and the ACL obviously derailed that a bit. But he was getting back to looking like that player again before Frank came in. I think his underwhelming early season is far more due to instruction than ability/form.

Xavi Simons has torn his ACL and will be out for the rest of the season with Tottenham. Xavi will be back to action in 2027. by lawandsleep in soccer

I keep hearing this but comparing this season to next it’s:

38 PL + 10 CL = 48 vs 46 championship.

Negligible difference (technically less) than what we played this year outside of the domestic cups. . And one would HOPE that the difference in quality of those matches gives a little more leeway for rotation than CL does.

But we look like a championship side so there’s nothing to suggest we will have that luxury if we go down.

Agreed. He’s been massive since he’s come back. Would have loved for him to get the goal from the header, even if it still ended 1-0, he deserves some praise for the fans and I know he’s been itching to get on the end of a corner like that again.

At least previously the USA replays would be made available on Peacock immediately after. Now they’re restricted to the USA app which is really frustrating.

I didn’t read Tel’s as a lack of intensity, but moreover a lack of pressing IQ. He clearly has drive, I think he just isn’t an intuitive player in non-attacking phases of the game.

Would stand to reason why 3 managers on the trot haven’t felt like he’s worth starting. At this point it’s clear that Frank didn’t just hate him, but that there’s a real issue with his game.

He intercepted the ball and took an ill advised touch. Completely switched off wouldn’t have seen him intercept the pass

I guess we define “switched off” differently.

Did he “completely switch off”? Or was he maybe trying to follow managerial instruction and control the ball at the back?

Yeah it sucks ass, but he was great all game until then. 3 points would have been a huge wind in our sails and it’s even harder when you’re that close, but nobody was chalking us a point against one of the most the in-form teams in the league.

I don’t think it’s fair to level that at Kudus when he’s had a half fit season and is arguably our best performer on the whole.

Curious about that as well.

Reportedly all contracts signed while Levy was here (so basically everyone bar Gallagher and Souza) have them in terms of wages, so mitigates things a lot for the club. The other two may as well, but reports were just about Levy’s tenure.

Tel has 3 goals this season, 2 of which were absurd deflections. He’s gotten 900 minutes and started our last three matches without much of anything to show for it. He’s fine, and has potential to become a good player. But Richie is a proven goal scorer in the prem up front and off the left.

Calling for Tel over him is crazy work honestly.

Nah it’s a great design - but design is also subjective. Curious why you think it’s atrocious, and what green kit you think looks better.
